General Wolves News

I think they'll put their faith in Vinagre and sign whoever they can get to come in and to be his understudy, young or old.

Then in January if it doesn't look like he can handle it, they'll look for someone more permanent. He'll have had his chance by then.

Happy for Vinagre to prove me wrong, but we'll take a step back if he's at LWB for 6 months. I'd rather have Barry Douglas, on a par defensively and offensively, but at least you have the set pieces. We have to sign someone, then when Jonny is fit sort out where we are at.

Perhaps the thinking might be, we've got Vinagre and Kilman one of those should be up to the job, you never know one of them could step up and be absolute quality, equally they might both be terrible.
There were people on here not so long ago saying they thought Vinagre would be off because he's not getting enough game time, now it's omg we need cover because vini hasn't played enough and isn't up to it, make your minds up

Kilman's about as fast as me, he'd make a terrible WB.

I didn't. His defensive game isn't good enough. You can't have him on the left and Doc on the right against decent sides unless you ask the latter to hold back which takes away his main strength. We saw that on Thursday and defensively got away with one. There are games when you can, but not all.

It’s not THAT long ago since Vinagre had the better of Alexander-Arnold for 90 minutes. He was excellent in the City away win too. He’s performed in big games before for us, let’s hope he can do it Tuesday. I’m still a big fan

He has the potential to be an absolutely fantastic wingback, he needs games to see if he will be. Now he’ll get them - out of disappointment comes opportunity and all that, fingers crossed he takes it.

It could well be the making of him tbf. A sustained run in the first team could do his development the world of good. I'd say it makes 352 more likely,

Think we should go 3-5-2 anyway for this game.
As for Vinagre, I'm excited to see how he shapes up with a proper run in the team. He's not as bad defensively as some make out imo, certainly he's improved over the last 12 months. Just hope the fans don't expect too much and don't blame him for every chance the opposition create down that side. The current situation might help him actually with 25,000 fans not sighing and ffs-ing every time summat goes wrong

Jinky, I think he’s talking to you... :fished: :icon_lol:

Careful darlo, that would be called gaslighting on the matchday thread.

maybe a loan coming in rather than to buy somebody, Vinny has his chance now and has been great in some games, problem for me is how consistant can he be..Jonny almost never had a bad game and younger players are not as stable..

Just read a piece by Martin Samuels on Twitter about Wolves and how the so called elite clubs hate the thought of upstarts like Wolves upsetting the, as he called it, the cartel if they do win the Europa Cup. Very good article, and worth reading.

He might not be scoring on the pitch but Neves is off it. Kid No.3 on the way.

Sounds like three own goals to me.

I wonder if they were all the result of shots from outside the box?

So we have apparently asked the Prem League to allow us to start our season on the same weekend as the Manchester clubs. If we had got to the SF of the Europa this would have happened anyway.

The solution put forward is for our fixture on the 12th September to be either Man Utd or Man City (the one we don't get to play Chelsea, as they are pushing for an extended break as well). So the games are postponed and moved and keeps the distruption to a minimum. It is obviously a fair request from us and makes sense, so pretty much nailed on the PL will tell us to piss off.
