Not a chance we don’t sign anyone - our hand has been forced. I don’t think we’ll spend £20m like we did on Jonny, as he’ll be back early next year (all being well), but we’ll definitely need someone in there. If we go in to a PL season with Vinagre as first choice and Lewis Richards as back up, that’s a shambles.

I've got no worries about Vinagre as a long term option at LWB. We'll obviously miss some of the qualities that Jonny brings as he's an excellent player but Rúben will not be out of his depth at all. I think it's right to worry about our depth in the position now though. Forces the issue to buy/loan another wing back.

I think it might just force our hand a bit more rather than a re-think. We are surely already trying to find godly, 2 footed wingbacks any way, we just have to do it immediately now. Or do we! Small squad n all that. Maybe a loan of someone who would be backup to Doc and Vinny til Jonny is back?

He’s missing most of next season (worst case all), so we can’t really wait for him to be fit again. Vinagre can do a job but he’s not a top 6 WB (which is surely what we are aiming for). This is his chance to prove me wrong though.

It's certainly asking a lot of Vinagre. He's got the ability i think but can he apply it consistently to make the position his own. Either way we need to sign a full back that can play there but do we go someone younger than him who be backup, someone similar to share the workload or do we go more experienced.
