So a small tug on a sleeve 40+yds from goal deserves a red card? I disagree.

Was it a goal scoring opportunity? No.

I agree with the questionable wisdom of making the appeal, but the decision to give a red card was wrong IMO.

He's clearly the last defender. As I said, he's given the ref a decision to make. Sometimes, such offences aren't punished with a red card but I can see why he was sent off. It was clumsy at best.

The original positioning looks shit, Iorfa and whoever else was left back are both standing very central and he appears to be the only Rotherham player left up but he's very wide, that's why Iorfa struggles to get across and make the original header.

It's got to be difficult for a referee to call in that situation, you'd back Iorfa to make up the ground and put in a challenge over that distance with his pace so he had no reason to make the foul at all but once he's done so you can see why the referee has made that decision, you can't really be allowing for individual players in that way so he's pulled a man back who's effectively clean through and that's been seen as denying a goalscoring opportunity.

The ball was hanging in the air for ages, he had more than enough time to get into the right position but ended up going into the initial challenge off balanced.

Really poor defending.

Shame because he was having a good game up until that point.

It's just shit all round.

Wrong starting position, doesn't get across to cover quickly enough, doesn't really commit to the header at all and then panics pulling the guy back making a balls of any chance of recovering.

100% agree Tony.

I seemed to be in the minority in my group with that view though. Darlo in particular was raging about the ref after the match.
Really? Darlo, upset with a referee? Are you sure Lycan?

Iorfa panicked and got himself sent off.

I can't think of a player who could run with the ball at his feet as fast as Iorfa can sprint. He should've just accepted he'd fucked it positionally. He could've had a cuppa and he'd have still beaten the attacking player to the edge of the 18 yard box. He panicked and put himself in the firing line.

To anyone under the age of 40, it's indelibly associated with the mid 90s and who wouldn't want to evoke memories of Steve Corica, Darren Ferguson and Mark Rankine bossing the midfield?

No ta.

The song was sung, at least as early as 1971/ 1972 at Molineux. Personally, I don't like loudspeakers dictating which songs fans sing. Football has almost turned in to a American football match, with everything choreographed. There were obviously unpleasant things at football, which needed to be got rid of, but the Liquidator isn't one of them.
The Liquidator to me, brings back to mind Richards, The Doug, Kenny Hibbit, Willie Car, Mike Bailey, Frankie Munro, Squeak, David Wagstaffe, Phil Parkes, Steve Kindon, Geoff Palmer and Steve Daley. It brings back to me, 2 league cups, when the League cup, was a real trophy. It brings back 40 and 50, 000 crowds at molineux for some famous night matches. We sang it all through the leagues, even in the old fourth division. There is a lot of debate with who started it, but we it was rather us or Chelsea, but the important thing is, it is associated with supporters all throughout the country, from being an intimidating anthem, that was roared out from both the North and South Bank.
The arguement about swear words, doesn't hold much weight for me. When it was sung in the 70,s there was no swearing on TV or on the radio, the Sex pistols were banned from the BBC, because of a swear word. Today there is swearing everywhere, on the TV, radio and in the charts. There are computer games for kids, with the enemy getting their heads blown off. I am sure a bit of boisterous fun for 3 minutes singing an old anthem that graced the Molineux for many years, is not going to corrupt anyone.

But like it or not, it's the reason it's banned.

It's such a frivolous thing to kick a fuss up about - it's a bloody song. It's banned. It's hardly an integral piece of the matchday experience.

If you don't like choreographed sing-a-longs then why do you want the club to play it? Just start off your own impromptu version next time you're at a game, that's not against any rules, just the club aren't allowed to play the music.

Can you imagine if football clubs banned beer, it's more dangerous and it has been more responsible for more problems at football matches than a song! I was around, in the 70's, 80' and 90's and I saw a lot of football violence, beer was nearly always responsible.
Well I would be against that too, it is part of the tradition of going to a football match and having a pint.
Beer has caused a lot more trouble at football matches, but it would be ludicrous to ban beer, because some idiots, act like cavemen, after a pint.
I can see that some people don't like it, I respect that, but what is what is wrong with respecting the wishes of many fans who clearly want to sing it, before the match at Molineux?

It is illegal to sing it at Molineux and if you get caught singing it and swearing, you will get thrown out of the ground and a good chance of being nicked, too.

I never said I didn't like it, just that it's not important and certainly not worth creating a sodding petition to bring it back. Maybe they can play it and ask the naughty potty mouthed fans really, really, really nicely not to swear during the chorus?

They can ban beer at Molineux for all I care - like I'll pay £3+ for a plastic bottle of urine!

This is turning into Brexit all over again.

Older folks yearning for the stuff they remember from 40 years ago, younger folks perfectly happy with Hi Ho Silver Lining and purple passports...

As you would do if you did it walking through Queens Square.

Football grounds arent immune from the laws of the land.

Ha! ha! What a load of bollocks. ;)

People who were there have all said they saw the tug. In which case he's given the ref a decision to make, so it's pointless appealing.
I said as soon as he did it that he would get a red. Was a stupid thing to do.
