General Wolves News

But the owner spending money isn't true either.

Fosun haven't made a loan to the Wolves for years. It's all been self sustaining until this season when they voluntarily pulled the plug.
voluntarily pulled the plug / unwilling to spend. Are these not those same thing?
And for some unfathomable reason people seem to think transfer fees out = transfer fees in when that simply isn't the case.
EP didn’t make this link. And let’s say the Twitter post was saying “wolves can’t spend because of FFP” EP didn’t make this link either. So your posts to him were unacceptable regardless.

As I say, I've bitten at the passive aggressive emoji on more than one occasion, usually in Mark rather than Johnny's direction, but the nasty man put a picture of Dean Saunders or a laughing face below my post when looked with a step back is a little lame.
And I agree, but again as I say, that in addition to those little digs, passive aggression and/or patronising responses result eventually in a reaction. That's not surprising is it?

He often makes good points, can be funny, and is clearly a huge Wolves fan, but he's also a massive WUM that stifles debate and creates a bad atmosphere.

No they fucking weren’t. Who made you forum judge Dredd just out of interest?

So I think we can all agree that our financial situation is not ideal and that nobody really knows the root of it (although we can pretty confidently say that the root is not what the club say it is).

Whist revenue and wages are a major factor in FFP, transfer spending is the quickest and easiest way that clubs getting into trouble with it.

There's nothing wrong with seeing transfer spending over the last few years. I posted something similar last week and also got shot down because of it.

I'm so glad we have another fortnight to tear lumps out of each other and over-analyse everything Wolves-related...

THANKS GARY

Because it is wrong

Because it is wrong
No-one is saying that it's the only factor, but is IS a huge factor and is worth assessing.

Everton are in trouble because of transfer spending, same as lots of clubs currently like Chelsea, Villa, even Barcelona. All because of transfers. It's the number one reason clubs get into trouble with it.

Everton are in trouble because they had a shadow owner who bankrolled enormous spending and they had a cunning plan to hide it in Covid losses and grossly overstated sponsorships, and that got found out at the same moment as the tap was turned off when his assets were frozen.

So it was the enormous spending that got them into trouble.

Chelsea are in such trouble they have spent a billion pounds in a little over a year.
Barcelona issue is from Spanish la Liga wage cap regulations which mean they can’t register players they pay for.

So it was the enormous spending that got them into trouble.
The problem was they had a gushing fountain of money that covered the spending and the fountain broke. Permanently. Just as they were committed to a stadium build they now can’t afford and all the sponsorship cunning plans to cover their tracks were snookered. And everyone objected to their over inflation of Covid losses.

No

The twitter post does make that link but not explicitly. Paddy and Billy have said this too, are we all wrong?
So your posts to him were unacceptable regardless.
What was unacceptable?

So you're ignoring the two largest elements of financials and focusing on only one?

You could have a zero transfer spend but have given out over £120m in losses over the season in bonuses/ signing on fees and wages. That's a failure of FFP.

Unless you consider all of the elements it's a pointless exercise and not an indication of failing FFP.

I already said that above.

At Everton the symptom of the disease is massive non-compliance due to spending. The cause is singularly the freezing of assets of Alisher Usmanov that they were entirely counting on when doing the spending.

Yes the underlying reason for issues is always lack of revenue. That's why spending beyond your means gets you into trouble.

Chelsea are only managing to keep their heads above water since Boehly took over by selling enough players to just about offset it. They need to start making profits very soon though or they'll be in trouble due to previous losses.

One theory says the reason they are buying so many players is they are anticipating a transfer ban.

They weren’t beyond their means when they did the spending. They also committed themselves to a lot of crap on fat long contracts because they had a clear (dodgy) funds source at that time. The government banned the source.

Chelsea are still using 8-year contracts to keep afloat as the Premier League haven’t closed that loophole. They also have 4,132,357 youth prospects they expect to flog to act as a life jacket. I hope they do get done as it stinks and it’s also pretty damn clear that the spree isn’t being funded by Boehly but by mysterious deposits in Chelsea accounts from somewhere not far from Riyadh.
