General Wolves News

When did the club admit Chiqi isn't first team ready? I seem to recall a lot of noise being made that he was straight into the senior squad. I guess that was just to quiet down the fans who wanted bigger name signings?

Lage said something along the lines of if he can help now then fine, but he needs to learn how to play in the PL before he'll be ready and he's a signing for the future

First time I've been on the club site to buy tickets the exact time they go on sale (Villa game). And it's a shite queueing system akin to Ticketmaster's nonsense when I try to buy NFL tickets.

Placed in a queue (randomly supposedly) at 10am and told it would be an hour wait. Fast forward to now and my expected wait is still over an hour as the queue has stopped moving.

I've always bought tickets at other times, so didn't realise our system was this slow and frustrating. Think I'll just buy tickets in the week leading up to the game like I usually do.

We are bottom 7 in the form table.

Lose the next two and we'll be bottom 3.

Tonight is a very big game.
I agree it's a massive game tonight, but less than a month ago we were in the top 3 in the form table. This is what happens in football.

I'm hoping we can get a comfortable win tonight with no drama, just to steady the ship. We still have a little buffer between ourselves & the sides behind, and Spurs aside, we still have a game in hand on the teams directly above us, so if we can get back to winning games of football, there's no reason why we can't have some sort of European football next season. I said a few weeks back (when people were going on about being in a fight for the CL) that I would snap your cock off for Conference League football next season and that's still the case.

Time will tell whether Bruno's outburst after the Palace game rallies the troops or whether we just fade away.

I wasn't sure if we were going to. I wonder if that decreases the chance of us signing a centre back in the summer.

I think Boly is the big call. This is why he needs to play the majority of, if not all of the remaining games. If his body can stand up to Premier League football still then great, this has been a bit of a write off of a season but we've got him for at least another year, no problem. If not then we need someone regardless - Yerson has promise but he's very raw, and I don't particularly want to see Donck there ever again. Not convinced that Sanderson or Marques are going to be up to it, I expect us to sell the former in the summer.

If we do go to a back four next season then I could see some logic in binning Marçal and keeping Saïss as backup to Aït-Nouri instead (and continuing as a CB option). He's got the attributes to play as a FB, and he's already a more creative player as a CB than Marçal is as a F/WB.

Marçal will go regardless, surely. Out of contract and offers us nothing. We evidently don't trust him at LCH (even though that's where he played for Lyon) so he's our fourth best option at LWB behind Ait-Nouri, Jonny and Giles. Maybe even fifth behind Bueno which is not so much a compliment for young Hugo and a comment on how shit Marçal is. Rubbish footballer.

We'll have some tough choices to make when Semedo, Jonny and Ait-Nouri are all fit. They're all class.

It'll be really handy to have them all available, especially Jonny cos of his ability to play either side.
WB is such a tough position physically, gives us options to change mid game with little or no drop off in quality and saves having to flog any of them into the ground over the season.

With Jonny equally good both sides, we could easily manage a kind of 'two games on, one game off' kind of rotation, notwithstanding tactical decisions

Great to see. This is how to build a top-six side, class vying with class. Boly vs Kilman too, after last night. (I wonder whether the war has been affecting Max. Understandable, if so.) Although he doesn't always get it right, Bruno seems fairly flexible with his selections, presumably trying to pick the best counter to opposition rather than simply a first-choice XI, so that would allow for some rotation. Mind you, if Jonny keeps up this sort of form he'll be starting every week.

I wonder if Marçal will push to stay? From his missus's social media they all appear very happy and the kids are all at Tettenhall College.
