Football Manager

I think I let more in at the start of games than the end. I'm going to have to try and change my tactics to help me out in more difficult games, despite my squad being improved I'm still being completely battered whenever I play a 'big team'. Just lost at Old Trafford 2-1 but was outshot 28-5 and completely outplayed which happens every time in those kind of games.

We won the Premier League despite some indifferent form towards the end of the season. Completed a domestic quadruple with Community Shield, League Cup and FA Cup victories but were beaten by Chelsea 7-5 on aggregate in the semi's of the Champions League.

I'm trying to unsettle Alaba who's at Chelsea as he'd be my perfect left back. Somebody I've signed on a free is on his way to Spurs for £30m! He's good, but doesn't hold down a regular spot but his versatility will be missed. Time for some of my youngsters to really cement themselves in my team now.

My wonderkid striker from the othe rpage just scored 5 in a 7-1 win over HJK in the Europa League, I've changed to a 4-1-2-2-1 formation from my 4-2-3-1 which seems a bit more solid so far

Sad... had to knock Wolves out of the Championship final to get promoted.

Six months of pestering finally got me Alaba, for a rather hefty £32m.

We've got an absolute boatload of young talent now and I'm struggling to pick through who to keep, loan out and sell. A few of them are going to be homegrown within the year so that should allow me to move out some of the older players such as Vico and Fierro. Fierro's good but not a touch on what he was for me on 12.

Spent £9m on a 16 year old French striker who's very very raw but has stats in the right places.

Forgot to say that I'm England manager, lost in the 1/4 finals of the 2018 to France who have an unbelievable team. Phil Jones was sent off twice! Rooney then retired and left me with virtually nothing up top so I called up two talented youngsters, one who hasn't played a competitve game in his career and he proceeded to score a brace on his debut. Big teams don't seem to loan out their youngsters nor give them any opportunity to play so the next bunch coming through look like they'll be wasted.

RedknappLite levels of tapping up there.

:icon_lol:

I know. I told him he needed to leave Chelsea if he wanted to win trophies.

I always used to plug and play my tactics from t'interweb but I think I need to break away from that this year otherwise I just get bored of playing!

What leagues do you all load up or do you just load the country you're playing?

Just a heads up that the handeld version of FM2013 is down from £6.99 to £2.99 at the minute. Both iPhone and Android versions.

Though apparently they haven't updated the Jan 2013 data update yet. Something to do with the Russian transfer window finishing later than ours.

Do you all mostly play possession stuff?

What are the best attributes to look for in signings?

I've loaded up tons of countries in some saves and only a few in others; I like fewer countries far more. Much less crap to dig through and the game becomes ungodly slow with a lot of places loaded, and it just gets worse the longer you play. Right now it's set on I think 3.5 stars for cpu performance; have all the top places loaded (Germany, France, Brazil, etc.). Maybe 10 in all; at least top 2 leagues in each.

Depends on the league. In the lower leagues my teams were awful at keeping possession and everyone is crap, so I looked for passing and pace. I opt for an attacking style, but that's mainly because I haven't had players good enough to do otherwise. In saves where I've had good teams I still prefer to let them run forward as much as possible, though it's not quite as gung-ho as my lower clubs. My better team's defenses were always solid, usually hovered around 4th-7th place, but never close to the teams finishing in the top 1-2 defenses. I scored way, way more than anyone else to make up for it though.

The higher up the leagues you go the easier it is to play possesion based football. In my Faversham game down in the Isthmian leagues I've gone pretty direct, aim for a target man and play off him and hassle the opposition defence. In my Wolves save I try to be more technical and play a short passing game but I'm still trying to work out the best way to get it working, particularly against the better teams who tend to dominate me. I'm not great tactically but I do OK, the tactics creator helps a lot but I don't have the patience to do it 100% properly.

Kaiserslautern is one of the hardest jobs I've taken in terms of expectation - I had to get them promoted at the first time of asking with no transfer budget (I had to sacrifice that to bring the wage budget under relative control) and then the minimum expectation for my first season in the top division was a mid-table finish. On a budget of just over £1m. Somehow I fluked fifth place but now have to get to the second KO round of the Europa League (tonked Celtic 3-1 at theirs so looking good for that), the QFs of the League Cup (there, and have Freiburg between me and the semis) *and* maintain a European qualifying league spot. With a £6m budget this time, though, which I spaffed on Yannick N'Djeng. Also moved out some average players and Ralf Rangnick (my DoF, successor to Bodo Illgner) has snapped up Andres Toloza who is a gem, plus got my Antonio Puchetta in on loan who is a beast.

Just finished my 5th season, we beat Arsenal 3-2 on the last day to secure 4th place again on 79 points (5 more than last season), behind 3rd place City on goal difference. I also won the Euro Cup, did a bit of a Chelsea to get past Man City and Inter in the quarter and semis. Kalenga scored 24 goals and won young player of the year, my 19 year old wonderkid keeper who I got for free the year before got the most clean sheets in the league and I won manager of the year. Stefan Bell was ridiculous with an average rating of 7.93.

Quite a good season really.

The biggest signing of my first year in the premiership... :D

Why would anyone do this? Might as well get someone else to play the game for you.

+1

Sorry I linked it directly from Steam. :)
