Farage Ltd and Similar Watch

It would take a huge amount of affordable houses to be built in order to counter the inflated prices. Giving money to the building companies would keep their profits high but would also line the pockets of those purchasing houses at below market rates.

I agree with you Mark that it has lined the pockets of the builders and would be interested to hear of others measures that could have been done. From what I can see the starter homes on new developments are selling as quickly as the larger properties due to the help to buy scheme.

They do.

You could work a similar thing by going straight to the house builders though. Say the government buys the land for the them and fasttracks their planning application etc on the proviso that the costs of the land are returned once the houses are sold. Housebuilders would only be able to use that scheme when building in areas with big shortfalls in housing stock and when building affordable houses.

They are using it to buy land. I think I posted on a thread a while back that the reason house builders made a profit last year was because they were using the help to buy scheme to buy land.

But if they give the money straight to the builder rather than the consumer you don't get the inflated prices that you have as a result of help to buy. The housebuilders know their new customers have extra cash from the government and have put the prices up accordingly.

You give them the money directly on the condition they make affordable homes rather than more luxurious ones and that doesn't happen.

What happens if nobody buys them? Or people buy them to rent out? You still have the same problem.

@nickgriffinmep · PS for the avoidance of doubt, our BNP food banks are for indigenous Brits only. 'Minorities' all have their own (taxpayer-funded) charities

Farage has today named Putin as the contemporary leader he admires most.

Interesting Bio on Farage by channel 4. His own beliefs seem at odds with UKIP's policy but he thinks they're the same. Strange as he wants free movement and trade but not immigration and blames the 'outsiders' of stealing benefits/ jobs. But doesn't look closer to home. I thought he came across well but UKIP comes across as small minded and borderline racist.

Interesting programme.

France's Socialist party loses more than 150 major towns in local elections that bring historic gains for Front National.

More wishy washy bullshit here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't actually see any part of that article that states which of UKIP's policies Malcolm Gwinnett agrees with, let alone why he agrees with them, and is instead a swipe at the party he's decided to leave, why he disagrees with their policies and that he's pissed off with the way they treated him when he was ill?

So shouldn't the headline have been "Why I’m leaving the Lib Dems today, by UKIP hopeful Malcolm Gwinnett"?

Nothing wrong with skilled workers coming into the UK, Rover.

But that's not the same as having an 'open door' policy to all and sundry, with no skills to offer, when we have 2.5 Million unemployed ? They can't all be lazy white working class can they ? As for all the low-paid, unskilled, so-called menial jobs, who was doing those jobs 10, 20, 30 years ago, before the floodgates opened ?

KTEC your keyboard seems to be set to Ranty, ranty, rant, rant.

Any chance of turning it to your usual 'crushing bore' setting please?
