Euro 2020

We weren't a particularly good team in 2002. Lampard and Terry didn't even make the squad, too early for Rooney, Gerrard and Neville were injured, we had an ancient Seaman in goal, Danny Mills at RB, Nicky Butt in midfield, Trevor Sinclair on the left wing and Emile Heskey up front.

2004 and 2006 with the penalty losses to Portugal were the 2. Combination of Rooney injuries, Sven tactics and luck did for us

The thing with Italy though, is it is not just momentum from the group stage of this tournament, they have been on an unbelievable run, and aren't conceding.
It might be my Azzurri tinted glasses, but I think they are the real deal...

Unbeaten in 30, no goals conceded in 10, pretty good regardless of opposition and its not like we have been playing San Marino and Faroe Islands repeatedly. The style and fluency of the football and the fact that one goal is never enough is what has pleased me most and a few players excelling, in particular Spinazzola, Locatelli, Chiesa, Bernadeschi and Immobile

Also are one of the few sides that doesn't have a manager holding them back

Mancini has been a revelation. Many (not me) found him an underwhelming appointment but he is doing a great job and has been very refreshing. Great to see Vialli on the bench beside him too as Team Manager

It's very likely that it'll be a Belgium vs Italy QF. I'm not sure I'd back Italy there.

Yep, tough game that would be, not even looking at latter rounds yet though as we need to get past Austria first. Hopefully the group stage form will continue and grow through the tournament though

So with a Spanish draw and a Poland loss Finland would be gone and there would be a very real possibility of the Belgian route to the final being Spain Italy France.

Pretty blatant penalty for Spain.

Morata probably not surprisingly misses it, decent enough save.

Another pen missed then..very strange

Morata is shite, how on earth he gets near the squad let alone the starting XI is beyond me. A complete fanny.

Followed by another. Definitely knocking on the door, Slovakia barely getting out their own half.
