Euro 2020

Poland winning all duels now

Lost for words really..homegame again not winning

5 of 9 pens missed apparently this tournament

So based on what we’ve seen so far, if you could pick three *realistic* signings for Wolves from the Euro’s, who would you pick? (I.e. not Ronaldo, Mbappe & KDB). Obviously the term “realistic” is open to interpretation, but I’d go for -

1. Patrik Schick
Looks quality and I can imagine him working in a two with Raul perfectly. Bit of an old fashioned centre forward. Was probably available for about £25-30m before the Euro’s but suspect his value has increased now.

2. Robin Gosens
This is why I say realistic is open to interpretation, because he’d have probably been out of our reach beforehand, but definitely is now. Definitely enhanced his reputation, but probably not on most peoples radars prior to the tournament. Would play the LWB role perfectly but equally assured as part of a back 4. Has all the attributes to succeed in the PL.

3. Billy Gilmour
Long term replacement for Moutinho, obvs!

I would say that this deserves a thread of it's own, tbh, and a really good topic Jinky

You shouldn't sign any player on the basis of a tournament, it's what badly run sides do.

If you think Gilmour is attainable, then you are using an extremely liberal interpretation of realistic

Said it when TT first mentioned it but I’d take Yaremchuk. Probably cheaper and more attainable given he would come from Belgium but then the risk is he hasn’t done it in a big league.

Both of them look more “Raul like” than someone like Cutrone so €20m euros 2 years ago may have been better spent on one of them.

Leicester were after Gosens but are considered unlikely to land him as they missed out on Champions League football.

Enrique is having a nightmare with that Spanish squad. Why he's trying to slow things down so much when none of their players are used to that style of play is beyond me. If you're going to drive that philosophy, why is Thiago sat on the bench?

Llorente was one of the best midfielders around at running beyond the forward for Atletico and he's playing at right back? Just bizarre.

There is a good team in there being managed by a tactical Pygmy. It’s the Euro 2020 theme.

Isak. Realistic in the sense he doesn't play for a top club now, unrealistic in the sense that he should be.

Been very struck by him - feels much more like a natural replacement for Raul than his Jose ever was.

Perhaps that's who Jeff wanted, but pulled a Bobby Robson, Carl Cort and Robbie Earle style mistake?

I've always rated Thomas Delaney. In and out of the Dortmund side of late and with only a year left on his deal, he's reportedly available for under £10m. If we are losing Joao then he'd be a very good replacement without breaking the bank. Not normally the kind of profile we go for though.
