Euro 2020

Watching him play for Belgium is odd. For us, we want him bombing forward etc but he just sits on the half way line, does all the simple stuff.
A chance he could replicate his international position with us next season

I know he also got forward and scored the winner but ignoring that, v Villa last season was what I want to see Donk as in a Wolves shirt, he completely nullified Grealish and did all the simple bits really well.

I'd like to think Donk will come back strong for us next season, he got pelters last season and rightly so, he was poor most games but (football cliche coming up) you don't just become a bad player overnight, hopefully it was just poor form/lack of confidence.

Yeah I think people are forgetting he’s a solid player. Hopefully utilised in the right way next season
My only complaint on him is the West Ham game...pull Lingard's shirt..tap his shoulder...tell him his dance moves are shit, anything to put him off.

I don't think he was helped last season by the muddled thinking with him "can you be a RCB, a DM and get forward and spanner chances" (christ, thats twice today I have nailed Nuno's ideas for last season...I promise you all I love him and I am not Jeff Shi)

Just looked like he never knew where to be this past season. Which may not have been his fault.

I'm interested to see if/where Bruno plays him.

England Side as per The Athletic:
--------------Pickford-----------
Walker----Stones-----Mings-----Trippier
--------------Rice------Phillips-------
Foden-----Mount----Sterling-----
--------------------Kane-----------

That left side of defence! Sterling instead of Grealish is picking experience over form which is usually a mistake

The article itself says there is a bit more uncertainty about the defence.

What about the rest of defence?

Mings’ starting place had been under doubt following his display against Romania and Ben White’s impressive performance.

In addition, England are reported to have focused in some sessions on a three-man defence that may have seen Wolves’ Connor Coady or Shaw favoured as part of a back three in the absence of Harry Maguire through injury.

I just don’t think giving the line up to Croatia with several hours notice is particularly clever.

I think today’s line up will be the most conservative one that we’ll play all tournament.

Southgate will cost England in this tournament. Shocking lineup with the options available

My concern with how Southgate plays a five is that the wing backs don’t push on enough. I’d favour a 4-2-3-1 with Mings than a 3-4-3 with 2 holding midfielders which turns into a back 7.
As a 4-2-3-1 without Maguire I’d swap Phillips for Bellingham and Sterling for Grealish. Not too fussed at left back as I don’t like Shaw and Chilwells best work isn’t in his own half.

I really hope that lineup isn't true, has dampended my enthusiasm for watching England play. That left-back choice defies belief. And I may have mentioned this before but I don't like fucking Mings.

Kalvin Phillips is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is, Bellingham should be in there. Trippier is fine but Chilwell and Shaw both had great seasons and are actual left backs, bizarre if that’s true. Mings will cost us at least one game if not the whole tournament at some point if he keeps playing. Oh and Sterling should be nowhere near a first 11 on current form but having Grealish, Sancho and Rashford on the bench is quite nice.

Fuck me that's rancid if true. We have 2 (3 with Saka?) left backs and playing none of them?! Mings in a 2! Sterling out of form. I wouldn't usually like Phillips in there but I suppose if fucking Mings is behind you then you need about 6 DMs. I don't agree but can see the argument for not playing Grealish but Sancho is the only one in form out of him, Sterling and Rashford.
