They are very capable of scoring goals and just as capable of conceding. They are happy to play on the counter attack and have some quick players who seem to perform better for country than club ( see Pickford for comparison). Personally I am pleased a 3 rd place side made it this far. It gives others hope and proves what we already know , that its all about getting out of the group somehow and in KO football a win is a win. I think that Ukraine may be absolutely knackered. It looked a real toil last night. Underestimate them at your peril.Ukraine it is not to savvy on them any good or average?
One hell of a K hole that would be,, lucky he managed to get himself out of it to knock that header in!Kane looks like hes had half an ounce of ketamine
Not making it would be a failure from here. One hell of a K hole that would be,, lucky he managed to get himself out of it to knock that header in!
Is it too early to start dreaming of a final, or has harry just passed me the rest of his bag?
I don't think anyone in the England camp will be underestimating them. We all saw what happened against Iceland a few years back when we did that - and ultimately, it's tournament knockout football, so anything can happen. But I enjoyed Southgate's interview after the game last night about them having not achieved anything yet, that they were already thinking about Saturday etc. He made all the right noises and you have to put trust in him, given the way the team performed last night. They are very capable of scoring goals and just as capable of conceding. I agree to some extent, but failing is pretty much what England have managed to do my whole life! Not making it would be a failure from here.
I wouldn't say "delusional". I'd say giving him a rest in a match where other players could be of use would be smart management.anyone thinking sterling won't be starting is delusional. He's our top scorer ffs.
I'd agree with all except Sterling . If Southgate was to drop him it would have been for the Croatia or Czech games. Sterling on the right with Grealish on the left or Grealish for Mount with Sterling on the left.I don't think anyone in the England camp will be underestimating them. Personally, from watching a few of Ukraine's games, I can see them sticking every man behind the ball - attempting to frustrate us - and then trying to hit us on the break. I don't think there will be much room in behind for the likes of Sterling & Saka to run in to, as I reckon Ukraine will be so deep. So I think Southgate will go back to Foden/Grealish to try and pass through the lines and to make stuff happen in and around the edge of the box. Surely we go back to 4 as well and bring Mount back in.
Pickford
Walker Stones Maguire Shaw
Rice Phillips
Foden Mount Grealish
Kane
He was still shit but was in the right place at the right time to score. One hell of a K hole that would be,, lucky he managed to get himself out of it to knock that header in!
