Nope. I can easily find 4 or 5 strikers who have had better seasons. Rooney rarely even plays up front nowadays anyway.Record goal scorer and captain, but should even go?

Personally I'd be taking Walcott because as part of a 4-3-3 he's useful to have as a wide striker with his pace.

Kane, Vardy, Walcott, Sturridge and Welbeck. I might take Rooney if Sturridge can't stay fit to the end of the season.

You'd take Walcott and not Rooney?
Respectfully disagree!!
I love the fact that there is only one way you ever disagree NWW! Always with respect!
He can play wide or up front. What versatility? He can play wide right and that's it.
If he's been 'fine' whenever he's played then why has spent so much time out of the team?
I can't see anyway how he and Rooney are in different situations, both got plenty of experience but haven't had good seasons, can only really play one position with any success, positions where we aren't desperate.
He can play wide or up front.
He's had 11 goals this season, including 3 for England. That's fine enough to me.
Rooney's had more goals but if he's keeping Kane out of the team then no thanks.
Jesus wept Mark it's not difficult!Your reasoning is all over the place, you're happy with his goal output but dismiss Rooney's greater number? You want him because he's an option to play central but you don't want to play anyone but Kane there?
Essentially all of your Walcott plus points also apply to Rooney but he's completely written off as unpickable.
I really can't differentiate between the two, if you're picking on form then neither are anything like a certainty, the only argument either has in their favour at the moment is history.
Walcott is no more versatile than Rooney! He can play wide right and do a shit impression of a centre forward, Rooney either plays up front or in the hole, seems to vary wildly which he's supposedly best suited to.Jesus wept Mark it's not difficult!
Walcott - Pace, can play wide. Good option off the bench.
Rooney - Can only keep better players out of the side.
Given the choice I take the former for his versatility and pace.
