Espanyol (A) 27/2 2nd Leg Build Up and Match Thread

version of the pic for those if us without a magnifying glass nearby. pretty happy with that lineup. I wish mou could get some rest, but understand why he's in with all the youngsters.

I actually like the look of that line up. It'll be interesting to see how the 2 up front work. Options on the bench too in the worst case scenario. Jota and Neves not even in the matchday squad which shows we are building some depth.

Moutinho is older than most of the team so has fewer of these journeys left as a player so probably wants to enjoy whatever time he has in the game (anyway he is run on Duracell batteries so goes for twice the distance as anyone else).

Options on the bench as well if needed.

Poor old John Ruddy.

Not sure that front two will work, but they have pace to burn. I’m not actually going to be able to watch the match, as my boss has got us doing “team bonding go-karting”... but it will be on record ready to watch later.

Would be nice to get through to 60 mins with no issues so the likes of Campana & Jordao can get a run out.

Interesting team - I've had a bit of 22/1 Vinagre for first goal scorer.
Delighted to see Podence get a start and this is a big, big game for MGW. Time for him to deliver on some of his potential

Shame Ruddy isn't involved but I can understand why.

...and that's why I had to retire!

As far as I can make out - they have about 15 players called Lopez - Espanyol have made 8 changes from their last league game

Suspect that Ruddy will be off somewhere at the end of the season as he will want to play for the last few years he has in the game - he's not going to do that here (barring injury) so no need to accomodate him (though would not have had a problem if he played this one).

Not sure why we need to start Traore. Neto deserves to play a full game.

Makes it look like we’ll be 3-5-2 with no Adama against Spurs on Sunday then which I’m not entirely pleased about but in Nuno we trust.

That's what you'd assume. I wanted to go Neto/Podence up top, but who are we to question The Living God Nuno? Maybe Neto and Adama will get 45 minutes each

Neto is 5'8'' and Podence is 5'5'', would leave us with very little by way of an out ball. I think you can play one in a front two, not both.

podence is 5'5"?? how did I not notice that. :icon_lol:

he must not have been anywhere near Raul in anything I've watched.

Bit skeptical (always am, tbh) - not sure how well the ball is going to stick up front. Still, they keep proving me wrong so here's hoping.

Happy to see Podence get his first start, hopefully he's up to speed by now. Vinagre should certainly give him some good support down that side.

We don't tend to just lump it into the box so keep it low & the height of the front 2 isn't an issue

Got BT on now - it's unusual to have the first 10 mins purely about Wolves on any of these live feeds

Team much as I expected although a bit surprised neither Jota or Raul start

This will be good experience for Kilman, and also Vinagre. I think that's the side of the pitch Espanyol will target so they could be busy.

Played Jota and Neto up top at Liverpool tbf and they did alright.

I think I would have played Neto and rested Moutinho.

In the home end opposite wolves fans by the way.

Solid defensive unit so we shouldn't leak much - we are capable of scoring which really takes it away from them
