Fans on twitter who're out there seem to think it was unprovoked. I’ll reserve judgement on that and what’s going on out there.
Problem is police abroad know if they’re heavy handed with English fans the blame will be put firmly at the fans door.

It’s not wise definitely but it’s hardly the thuggish behaviour of the 1980’s. Plus police wading in with batons drawn is hardly proportional when risking the safety of innocent people caught up in it.

I'm probably being a bit harsh on our fans tbf, but to flip it around, how would we feel if a load of espanyol fans turned up and started letting off flares in Queen square?

I'm not condoning heavy handed policing, but Spanish police are a bit more rustic than our own and more inclined to hit first ask questions later.

I'm not saying our fans were causing trouble, a nuisance to locals maybe.

That's a bit too strong for me - 6 players who are likely to start on Sunday. We've seen the difference Boly has made so I wouldn't put him out and I'd want Traore fresh for Sunday given what he did to Spurs at Molinuex. Neves is the other I wouldn't bother with.
Donck at the back, Saiss in midfield with MGW + Jordao. Podence and Neto as a 2. I'd have Doc off at half time if we aren't a couple of goals down.

Looks like MGW is now just a bench filler.

He didn't quite go that far. He said that it's getting towards now or never, that he's regressed and he's not sure if Nuno trusts him any more. All of which is difficult to argue. He also said he hasn't been on loan because players that have played the number of first team games he has only go on loan under Nuno to hopefully never come back.

Amazing atmosphere (that was probably at the stage of some proactive policing to start dispersing) instead of gentle management it was truncheon heavy violence. Saw several people with injuries. Totally changed the atmosphere from fun to scared and angry within moments.

6 is my guess. Not fussed about who as our set up for recovery has been top notch really and we seem to play better with limited changes over the 3 games in a week
