government expecting more companies to fold too, which is worrying.
this is a massive opportunity to become a world leader in the provision of renewable energies, but do we have confidence in the incumbents to take appropriate advantage?
It’s energy suppliers going bust not energy generators. The suppliers are basically middle men who do nothing other than take contracted out meter reads and issue bills. They (should) hedge the energy they supply by buying from the generators (or further middle men), those going bust already are not very good at hedging..
I was probably quite fortunate that Yorkshire Energy went bust last December. I ended up switching to an E.On fixed tariff as it was the cheapest on offer at the time but I’m pleased I’m with one of the bigger companies for the moment.
I’m bracing myself for a huge hike when my fixed period ends in March though!
Been with So Energy for a few years, they get their electricity from renewables and you can vote on what type it is, wind solar etc, bit gimmicky but I like it.
They aren't the absolute cheapest but the service has been good so I've stayed with them, I'm hoping they manager to survive this period.
