Ebanks-Landell has surprised me a lot, he coped pretty well when put in the team earlier in the season. Having only played right back last season for us to come in and play well at centre back a level above for the first time is fairly impressive. As a back up for this level I'm happy with him, especially as we have Hause, but I can't see him becoming a lot more than that.

cynically i don't think blowing smoke up a kids backside is their usual style so i am thinking they are trying to get him a higher profile so england u-21 will give him a call up

last thing they want is him going the nigerian route and us missing him for afcon etc given we already lose half the team and 75% of the goalscoring when dicko and sako go

Anyone else finding it a bit of a concern in the words from Gallen at the end of the article. Sounds like they stuck him at right back because he can run despite acknowledging his final ball isn't upto scratch, if he's been a centre half up until now then it could take a while for him to start producing a decent end product, it may never come, at what point do they move him back inside and find an alternative if it can't be mastered?

Called me old fashioned but his main role should be defending and he has it all in that area as far as I'm concerned. He attacks well too and his final ball will get better with practice. If it only becomes adequate then we will still have a tremendous right back.

We had a winger whose final ball was sometimes erratic and he managed to get an England cap and be sold for 10 million(ish).

Just seems an odd move to me, lets put this guy out wide because he can run, it's almost on a par with Mick moving Zubar out to right back.

I'm not saying it's a particularly bad thing that he's out there at the moment, he's very comfortable on the ball so he's good for most of what's required just seems that end product isn't there yet, even if he doesn't master it the temporary change in position could still do him well in the long run, giving him fresh perspective on things and offering him some experience defending in wide areas, which a lot of centre halves struggle with. I just wonder how long you give it, is it now set in stone that he'll only ever play fullback regardless of how that end product develops or do they give it say 12-18 months before they call it a day and revert him to centre where his qualities on the ball still have plenty of use in the modern game.

I think we should forget about the position he used to play and concentrate on him being a right back. Moving him from the position he shows such promise would be stupid, in my opinion.

I'd like to think he could do both positions comfortably in the future as Lescott was more than comfortable playing LB/ CB in his prime and Iorfa is more mobile than Lescott ever was. For this season he will remain at RB I hope.

It's interesting he is keeping such experienced players out where for some of them it is actually their main position.

I think that speaks volumes about the potential Wolves see in him. I think this end product business is a bit of a misnomer. We have people complaining week in week out about specialist wingers like RvlP not having end product so to expect it from a young right back is nonsense. Especially as he has not had a settle right midfielder/right winger playing in front of him so not been able to develop the sort of partnership Golbourne and Sako have

What if he never masters the final ball though? Would you be just as happy with say a 24 year old Iorfa who's sound defensively, plenty of ability to get forwards but then rarely produces anything when it matters? It can be easily excused at this stage of his development but if it's something that doesn't improve in the future then it's a pretty big flaw in the game of a modern fullback. Would you just leave him as a right back then who is mostly going to frustrate in attacking areas or bring him back central where the flaw is no longer apparent but you still make use of his ability to defend and composure on the ball?
