Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolves: The Verdict

We were much better than we were against Forest, and arguably better than we were for the majority of the Arsenal match.

But we still lost because we have so little quality in the side.

We should have won that, but any momentum we had was extinguished when Krejci was sent off. Stupid decision, especially when he gave Hughes the benefit of the doubt in the first half.

Awful penalty from Tolu - we go in 1-0 up at half time then who knows, but we didn't due to a lack of quality and go on to lose due to a lack of quality.

It's just a really shit season to be a Wolves fan and I'm fed up of it.

If we get two more points between now and the end of the season there are plenty of pundits and supporters who will tell you that not only is he doing a solid job, it’s also a miracle he’s here doing it out of the kindness of his heart. With that level of interrogation Shi 2.0 doesn’t need to do any work to sell it. He can’t believe how easy this gig is.

Also, depressing as it is, not sure how much benefit there would be in sacking Edwards at this point.

The moment the season ends, yes. But now, in this weird limbo period? Why? Who would benefit from the stigma of this period, who would we get too?
I really feel like an Edwards apologist when I really don't mean to (I have no strong feelings either way towards him) but I agree, he's almost certainly not a great head coach but it's impossible to give anyone a proper evaluation with this shower of shit to work with

Don't get me wrong, if a head coach with a better, proven pedigree was available in the summer, we should go for them but no point doing anything now.

It's as you say EP - a weird limbo period.

Poor game, but we were the better team. The red card was the killer blow for me. Thought Santi, Hugo, Andre, Bellegarde put in a shift. Edwards looking smug, nice and comfy in the pre-match pressers, to me, means his job is safe into next season. More crap to come for the rest of the season. Big sigh.

I'd sack him as soon as the final press conferences are done. Bring in someone untainted and build a new squad. I don't want to bring someone new in now, they'd just end up reeking of the stench of negativity our current shambles reeks of.

I'd sack Edwards in the certain knowledge that Fosun will bring in someone of a similar shite profile.

Ironically if we'd won today as we should have done I think we'd have been playing Palace next season unless Parrish swallowed his pride. They are awful principally because the manager has given up and the players are following his lead.

Sacking him now is pointless however absolving him from judgement currently I don’t agree with at all.
If his points tally is paltry come May it’s time to move on.
He’s managing the club so is always being judged and rightly so.
His team selections in numerous games have been head scratching. Numerous times we’ve started games poorly or returned from half time half asleep.
No evidence yet unfortunately that he’s got the ability to turn it around.

What is our style of play?
What is our tactical approach to a game?
Why has he on a number of occasions picked a side he's then had to change because issues that could clearly be identified at kick off materialised?
Why Tchatchoua and Hwang?
Why did he let a guy who has missed his previous 4 penalties take one as opposed to a bloke who had scored his last 12?

Nobody would have kept us up this year because of the shower of shit. A good coach would have addressed all of the above though and given signs for hope. He hasn't, we are just waiting for him to repeat those mistakes or similar next year to be judged.

I'm not absolving him from anything. He gave Jackson Tchatchoua 90 minutes FFS.

Yep and it’s decision like this that make him staying a real concern.
I’m almost certain there will be someone better suited come the summer to get us straight back up.
However I’m certain RE will be in charge regardless how this season ends.

The plus side of picking Jackson

1) After 45 mins Rob has decided Doc is not a RB or RWB and therefore on his way out

Here endeth the plus sides

The negatives

1) How low does he rate Lima, despite ruining his season by denying him another loan after randomly playing him for 5 mins in Jan.

2) Not sold on R Gomes as a RWB

I would buy not trying Lima out if we were close to safety and the view is not the right time to drop him in to the PL and risk losing vital points due to his inexperience but, well you know how it is.

I hope Rob succeeds, he's a likeable guy, but if he persists in playing Tchatchoua then he can get gone and we'll give that Portuguese fella a go. Literally play *anyone* else, I don't care who. I mean, what does it say about Doherty and Lima that they don't get a game ahead of that walking bomb scare? Just play some kid from the academy if you need to.

Palace were poor, but we'll always find a way to lose these games. That's our identity this season. Rubbish players try to compensate and f**k things up. If we don't fix it for next season then we'll be 'enjoying' another of our long stays in the Championship.

He is better than Matt Doherty but that's a scandal in itself that he's still employed by us. He did actually make one good covering challenge today but he's a disaster on the goal, Zubar-style tucking in 10 yards for absolutely no reason and there we go.

Yeah I actually don’t think I’ve watched many defeats this season and just had to accept the other team played well.

I guess mainly because we’ve been so poor they’ve not had to get out of first gear
