Coronavirus

I mean none of them had even read the fucking Wikipedia page on the Spanish flu pandemic? Let alone a scientific paper on it? There information on mutation there FFS. It’s beyond believability so why does the stupid cow come out with this claptrap?

Boris doing the 5pm shift tonight.

Haven't seen anything that could mean we are getting some alas news or some OTT promises so just decided to work a few extra hours today.

10,000,000 vaccines celebration. All done alas, through having a world beating cheque book.

Is spending £2.75m a day on them reasonable though?

I spent £100 an hour on a plumber recently

Clearly not, the whole thing is entirely corrupt.
And yet it'll be the last you'll ever hear of it, surely if some folk on a football forum have worked out its corrupt there must be others who can do something about it, maybe another political party or maybe the CPS if you are correct?

Ah, knew it would be the Labour party’s fault.

I'd assumed it was so he can be the great leader, and lead from the front in the 6pm applause for captain Tom

That’s not actually true though is it, it’s been done through excellent organisation.

if it makes you feel any better, and you’re unable to apportion praise where deserved as well as the constant criticism, it was a contractor who ran the process rather than Boris.

The cheque book helps though. As it turns out all inspired by Matt Hancock watching Contagion and he knew he had to buy and buy high.

Right now the only way I am going to have a go at the roll out is if my Dad doesn't get his first jab by the 15th...

Yeah, you always have to pay for stuff - I’d imagine if you have the eu the chance to buy our vaccines at triple the price right now, they’d snap your hands off.

the key point though was recognising what was needed and acting on it quickly.

they ordered early, from several suppliers, and built capability to mass produce in this country, they’re the key things that have got them into this position.

(plus a bit of luck that the ones they invested in are the ones that have worked well and been approved quickly).

The roll out of the vaccine has been a tremendous success and credit goes to all who are involved in the process.
Having the vaccines on hand quickly was down to gambles taken with the public purse. I’m sure they were calculated risks but the fact we stumped up funds quickly meant that we were at the front of the queue when vaccines were approved.

Yeah partly, as I say, the vaccines aren’t free - but being at the front of the queue is what got us to the front of the queue. The eu signed contracts three months later than we did because they went through a huge amount of beaurocracy, where we made decisions and took action.

yeah, thing is the bit in bold is the opposite to the incumbents MO. There is no other action that has been taken pro-actively, or quickly. Nothing else has shown considerable insight and foresight.

I mean yes, it is fantastic, though I feel it is being spun somewhat, as given 2 doses are needed, I feel we should be reporting how many jabs, and people having the 2 therefore being vaccinated properly separately. Some might argue that's semantics, but I think the distinction is important.
