Coronavirus

My son is back to home schooling next week. The school don't have enough teachers due to Covid/isolating so are asking years 8 and 9 to stay at home.

Cue everywhere looking like Nottingham city centre tonight

Or Liverpool and then wonder why the rates are going up ?

Still going up to see my son & wife tomorrow whatever the weather is like (and it was really shitty this morning).

Haven't seen them for 3 months and is likely to be the last chance for another few weeks. Plus a National lockdown will cut out the last remaining outlets for human contact again.

Fucking terrific. It clearly got out yesterday as work issued me with a letter stating my expected hours of work and pointing out I am in construction.

Great, I may not be starting my new job until the new year, supposed to start 16th Nov, month lockdown takes us to start of Dec, doubt they'd start me for the 3 weeks before Christmas break, although I may suddenly become a key worker again like last time though, but not 100% sure bike building counts as a key skill to keep the country running (especially not in the winter when it's freezing and pissing down)

Lockdown is needed but should have been done at least a month ago

Fucking boris

Always too late so it has to be more severe and last longer than had been hoped for. Boris will spin it as “saving Christmas”.

Although its shit, its probably the right thing to do, however keeping schools/uni's open seems to be counter productive to me.......plus they should really extend the furlough scheme

What is the plan for entertainment venues, theatres etc? Cannot see anything anywhere mentioning those.

I think that the general public has a lot to answer for . The rules are all there the pubs like a hospital ward.
Where lock downs have been introduced the rates have still gone up.
Another lock down will probably have some effect but only if people follow the rules.
It's all thoroughly depressing and as a start up business (Nov 2019) I have had zero help.
Sorry I lied, I had the chance to get into a shit load of debt at good rates of interest.

The furlough scheme has been abused to f*** by businesses and by the self employed.
In construction Invoices are being deferred.

I agree, the general public has a lot to answer for. You can have all the lockdowns you like if people choose to ignore/bend the rules then, they will not work. I think the Government, also, need to be held to task for not being more forceful enough in applying these measures. The absolute morons partying in the streets when the pubs shut should have been dealt with and nipped in the bud. Water cannons would have been my weapon of choice. The vast majority of " joe public " will not take all this seriously unless they lose someone close to them or someone close to them get the virus and suffer long term effects.

You can't blame people for "Eating out to Help out" or for companies furloughing staff when they had massively reduced income.

You can blame a government tier policy that Chris Witty stated were "not sufficient" and you can blame the government for ignoring SAGE advice.

Has anybody been shopping today? any silliness?

Had a conference call at work with the other managers and they all reported its been well above normal and some people (trying to) be cunts with the pasta/bog roll

I totally get what Dan is driving at too, my other half was due back to work on Monday (finally) but she's had panic attacks this morning that maybe she'll lose her job after all. I'm her only contact, her friends live in Burton and her family Swadlincote.

The uncertainty and isolation for people with mental health conditions cannot be understated, it has the potential to kill people.
