If only hospital patients will be tested for the virus how will folk know if they have or haven't had it? You could pick up a chesty cold/think that you've got it and visit elderly relatives a few weeks later on the basis that they are safe from you spreading it to them. The reality could quite possibly be different?

My son’s university “holiday” in Croatia has been cancelled due to 14 day self isolation for U.K. residents arriving in the country. Coronavirus will probably do him less harm than 5 days drinking in Croatia so....result.

Most people won’t know for sure but the advice is self isolate with symptoms so it doesn’t matter whether the individual knows for sure.

If you have two instances of symptoms you self isolate both times.

As the number of those tested increases so the data available increases from which robust information can be extrapolated but it is unlikely that everyone will find out one way or the other but we will have a good idea of the percentage of the population and in some respects the higher the percentage the better. Unfortunately, older people and other vulnerable groups are going to be exposed art some point...this year, next year..hopefully more treat emend and/or vaccines will be available.

Wow. Over 28000 killed by the flu in 2014/15 but just under 2000 in 2018/19 but a mortality rate for flu not available. I just wonder how many illnesses/deaths in the past few months have been put down to flu rather than the coronavirus. If data from China establishes that re-infection is possible and that immunity is not guarenteed that sort of scuppers Bozo policy.

went to my big town today because i had to go to the bank, and the big supermarket from one confirmed a week ago we now have seven confirmed.
haqlf the shop staff were wearing masks and half were not.
not a mask or gloves available anywhere, apparently big town knew five days ago about the new cases, we 45 minutes away knew fuck all.
ON LEAVING lidl, THE GYPSY BEGGAR LADY OUTSIDE TOLD UD lidl WAS CLOSING, WE ACUTALLY LAUGHED, THEN GOT A PHONE CALL FROM A PALS DAUGHTER IN ATHENS THAT TOLD US ALL THE SUPERMARKETS IN ATHENS WERE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE (sorry caps lock but fuck changing it).
we had no idea, had no information and a group of us, over a cypro on the way home, (it is my theory that pure alcohol gets the virus pissed and it can't get me) that if we have to quarantine after today's visit, we will all quarantine in my house (the biggest) and if the worst comes to the worst we will die laughing and seriously pissed. I can think of worse ways and three of them are female so you never know how big a smile there will be at the end.
I am not taking this lightly,, but devoid of information locally, I am working on the "a feint heart never fucked a pig" plan and trying to be philosophical, and pissed of course.

Better the time and money diverted to those in hospital beds I would have thought. Besides accurate figures might leave the media's scare mongering tactics void which is extremely bad news for makers of pot noodle and toilet roll.
