Comedians

Just booked tickets to see Stewart Lee at the Grand on 31st Jan. Can't wait. I absolutely love him. Easily the funniest comedian I've seen live (which, granted, is not many) and his Comedy Vehicle is up their with Newswipe as the funniest thing on TV.

Off to see Dave Gorman on Sunday too, which I'm really looking forward to.

Just came on to say that I went to see Stewart Lee on Saturday at the Leicester Square Theatre. It was split into three sections - as he's written six half hours to be filmed for TV and you get three of them. Two of them were excellent, really top-notch stuff. The final part wasn't so great, though.

I love Stewart Lee. Any idea when his new stuff is back on TV?

Oh, so I've basically paid good money to go and watch tv spoilers.... :(

Bit of a glass half full take on it, but...yeah. :) There seemed to be a fair bit of ad lib stuff and riffing off audience reaction but it's difficult to tell with his style of delivery.

Ash vs Evil Dead S1 done and watched. Absolutely brilliant fun.

Saw Henry Rollins last night, inspirational as always.

He was discussing meeting David Bowie when he was touring with Rollins Band.

A heartfelt tribute morphs into an anecdote, from 1997, when his Rollins Band appeared on the same bill as Bowie at a festival, where the former punk found himself gazing silently at his hero in a foyer, like he was watching a rare bird. “Then he stops, turns and looks right at me. He says, ‘Rollins!’ I’m like, ‘David?!’

Implausibly, it turns out that Bowie was a Rollins fan, and ended up quoting the younger man’s books and even interview quotes back at him over lunch, during which an increasingly incredulous Rollins casually mentioned that he’d love to meet Lou Reed. A few weeks later, he was at home in his solitary “man-hole” when the phone rang. “Henry. It’s Lou Reed. David said you wanted to talk.”

He also spoke about being friends with Lemmy and how underneath the rockstar exterior, he was a very lonely man who used to let Henry borrow books and films as an excuse to see him regularly.

Just bagged tickets to go see Jerry Sadowitz again.
Always a class act. Missed his last show which was days after Saville died. Apparently he came on stage dressed as saville.

Michael Winslow (the imitating noises guy from Police Academy) is playing the slade rooms in November.

I need to get tickets for that. If you've not seen him before, treat yourselves.

Went to see Russell Howard last night, absolutely brilliant, he's absolutely one of the best comedians on the circuit at the mo, much better live than on TV.

Deutsch will be delighted with that review...big fan of his....

Will be there on Friday night. Open mind on this one, seen some stuff I like but his last TV show was a shocker.

Going to see Henning Wehn later in the year. Not really sure what he'll be like, but looking forward to it.

Going to see Rob Beckett on Tuesday, really looking forward to it.

Could you tempt him to stay over there forever?

Scanned over this, realise who you mean now. Random but I bet he will be good. Hilarious at times when he's on panel shows n that. Let me know how it goes if you don't mind cheers

With you on this fella. He's not funny.
It annoys me that talentless wankers like him sell out the NEC, and genuinely funny good comedians struggle with small halls.
