Chelsea 3-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Is Costa still doing his lap of honour high-fiving the Chelsea fans?

I think that would be the end for Shi, Sellars and Fosun.

I think we'd be sold for the £30m they paid and the Wolves logo.
Relegation is a disaster for them. They can’t possibly allow it to happen.

But they’ve ridden the crest of a wave and got complacent, over promoting an academy coach and Still leaning heavily on Mendes when after that first window, he’s been a massive hinderance. And it worries me they don’t have the competence to arrest the slide and think for themselves.

Agree with that. We are becoming a case study on what happens when clueless owners rely on an agent who doesn't care.

Shi is not equipped to manage this situation he needs a DoF to appoint a manager not Mendes.

They can't keep making bad decisions and getting away with it.

I Agree. You'd have to question who (besides Mendes) has benefited financially from some of the signings we've made.

I don't think Lopetegui is the answer. He looks mentally shot as do we. That's not a good combination.

As for the game, we were appalling.

Traore and Guedes effort levels were a disgrace. Both should've been hooked at HT.

Toti is as crap as Lage said he was, it's as bad a CH performance I've seen at this level. Genuinely terrible.

I felt sorry for Joe Hodge, he's not even ready for Lg2 let alone the PL. Really poor from the coaches to throw him on, should've been Ronan if they wanted to go 4-3-3 at least he's got experience of senior football.

This is mainly on the former manager but having the same stats guys and Roberts on the bench is not good for this team. The whole thing needs gutting including Sellars and Shi.

Get a proper manager and DoF in as an initiate course of action.
Quite agree with the first and last sentence. Can`t comment on the rest as I couldn`t watch the game today. Missed another cracker by the sounds. Cannot agree with "we`re going down" comments. We have too much quality, needs the right Manager/head coach.

Sadly this scenario was so blatantly obvious that it would occur unfortunately our great leaders didn’t see it.
We’ve got quality in midfield but lacking everywhere else.
Players have to fight to keep us up and I don’t think they’ve got the stomach for it.
Keeping Lage longer than hour after the Liverpool game in May has crippled us combined with getting rid of players who would have fought for us.
Absolutely nothing positive to say about us, the mantra that there’s 3 worse sides than us is a case of hope. Who’re these 3 worse sides? We’ve shown zero evidence of that we’ll turn this around.
The situation is becoming irreversible due to a distinct lack of forward quality.
Guedes, Podence, Hwang Adama not up to it by a mile.

This is the crux. Mendes has brought us some real quality footballers but our squad building is shocking. We end up with similar players in every position.

This is why we should have sacked him, not backed him (though this was seemingly heresy at the time). It’s less the backing him in signings and more in the tacit support given to his destruction of squad experience and morale. The Board’s role in this when the evidence was stark staring throughout the end of last season almost beggars belief. Fans lazily bitching about ‘boring’ football under Nuno should have a good hard look in the mirror too - that’s what entitlement looks like.

Whoever we are getting needs to get here fast and really want to roll their sleeves up from minute one, leading with vigour and a simple, inspiring message.

It says something when "over promoted academy coach" could have applied to multiple people in crucial positions before a few days ago.

There's no such thing as too good to go down. Talent without application and endeavour is worthless and quickly fades. Look at Mourinho all but refusing to work with Pogba. Wonderful footballer in terms of talent, can basically do anything, but his attitude stinks and he'll not have half the career he should have had (which considering what he's won and earned I doubt he'll care much about)

The squad, all of them, need a serious kick up the arse. I'm not quite to the point of going full on Mick and wanting grafters all through the team but at least Hwang puts himself about a bit. Guedes couldn't be arsed to do even that.

I'm still calm. We just need a good enough manager to coast us to a decent recovery. We won't finish in a great spot, but with decent work, we'll be clear. Keeping Lage was disastrous, but it is salvageable.

The ball is in Fosun's court now.

He’s only in it for himself.

He said he tried to get Guedes in for 2 years. Clearly Nuno blocked it and then Jeff wouldn’t spend the money. Then Bruno the yes man agreed to it.

(Post the first PL window)

Semedo - line his pockets and help his mates out at Barca

Trincao - same as above. Was just too shit to work

Guedes - same as above but his mates at Valencia this time

Podence - farmers league player. Absolute passenger in a good league

Fabio Silva - nothing need to be said

Vitinha - strange one. Nuno didn’t like him/want him. Club then didn’t know what to do with him when Nuno left.

Neto - actually a good one except for unfortunate injuries. £16m about right for a player of his ability/potential at the time

Jordao - shambles

Nunes - will be a good player but we didn’t exactly get him cheap. Having less impact so far than Guimares did at Newcastle.

We’re not exactly doing well out of these deals. Even the successes aren’t cheap and no different to what we’d have managed to do without Mendes.

To be fair, a lot of the team that got us promoted and then those great results in the EPL was due to a lot of his influence.

But Mendes is only really looking out for Mendes. He doesn't care about Wolves, so long as the money keeps falling in his pockets.

Chelsea away. 4/5 players out. No manager. This was a bonus game with Nuno in charge never mind Davis. Not going to get too worried about today.

I’d like to agree but we’re reliant on Adama, Costa, Hwang, podence and Guedes to create, score goals and pull us out of this mess just don’t see it.

For sure Nuno, Neves and Jota were massive. Cavaleiro and Costa given their career trajectories you could argue were more Exposure than steals. We paid a decent wedge for them. Exposure to Rui and Moutinho for sure but we were a PL club at this point, so we got benefit but no where near extent of Neves and Jota.

After that though he’s been a hindrance. We could have signed any of those players if we wanted to and most of them have been failures of massively overpriced.

Absolutely agreed, on all accounts.

But that's really how Mendes work. Get some good business done, and profit from a bandwagon of crap deals afterwards, with some quality sprinkled in here and there.

Who was the Benfica fan at the start giving all the warnings? SLB?

I’m with him now! I’ve had enough of it. If we make shit decisions, sign shit players/managers and are shit then fine, that’s football and we made our bed. But to do exactly that, whilst paying a third party a massive amount to make a shit bed with no repercussions. No thanks.
