Boxing thread

I watched the whole fight, Pacquiao couldn't lay a glove on him, not the spectacle the average fight fan wanted to see but for the purist it was a boxing masterclass from one of the best.

Exactly, i'm not sure why anyone thought it was going to be a tear up and that Floyd was going to fight any other way.

We were watching it live, and after 3 or 4 rounds it was clear that Manny out punched Floyd, and we fully expected Manny to have won 3 out of 4 rounds. We couldn't believe it when we saw the Judges had scored it the other way.

Pacquiao was more aggressive, Floyd covered up for the majority, and while he did land some solid hits, there's no way he won it by 118 to 111. I firmly believe the judges were influenced by the Mayweather machine, let's not forget he got to choose the venue, the purse, the ref etc.

He didn't though. Aggression doesn't mean better, look at the accuracy stats and punched thrown.

May I suggest the judges know more in this case?

I had it 116/112

James DeGale beats Andre Dirrell by unanimous decision, a new British world champion. Never thought he had it in him.

He deserved that. Shouldn't have started to back off but i think he knew he had enough and in the last couple of rounds he showed that. Carl Froch is a dickhead, how was that a disappointing performance?

He nearly let it slip that's why. To win on two cards by only two points despite two knockdown shows it for what it was. Closer than it needed to be.

It still wasn't a disappointing performance though, maybe a little naive but he's still learning and especially in big fights, he will have learnt a lot from the fight hopefully. Point still stands on Froch no matter what, he is a dickhead.

Frock has the right to be a dickhead and he's no worse than coke head calzaghe

Got to feel for Kevin Mitchell there but that swelling looks horrible. Excellent fight though.

4 months later and Joshua looking even better today.

Bit of a disappointment the fight was so quick, but Joshua looked excellent.

He's frightening. He'll bury Whyte in December, then it needs to be quick steps towards a title fight. Of course he doesn't have rounds behind him but what can you do? He just knocks over anyone they put in the ring.

I'm certain he'd absolutely nail Fury right now and he's managed to get a shot at Wlad.

The only thing with fury is he's so big and throws out that rubbish slow jab so much he's difficult to hit.

That said Joshua is really quick and really powerful, on his day he could knock anyone out. I'd like to see him take a proper punch before going too much further though, I remember getting excited about david Price a few years ago...

Joshua needs to carry on doing what he's doing. There's no rush.

I'd like to see him step up after Whyte however and look at Chisora.

Chisora would be a step up in profile but I'm not sure he's really any better these days than what AJ is already knocking over - remember how desperately poor he was in that shocker of a fight vs Fury.

He has his issues with being in shape, but when he is he has skills and durability.

If I'm honest I think that Joshua beats anyone aside from Wilder and Klit at the moment, but I don't want him to rush

Klitschko vs Fury postponed, Wlad has a calf injury.

Great. That means more press conferences...
