Boxing thread

What a fight that was, glad to see AJ finally tested. That uppercut to finish the fight was savage, not sure I want to see a rematch though AJ v Fury has to happen now.

Was at Wembley last night and the atmosphere for the AJ fight was insane. Genuinely one of the most exciting sporting events I've attended. My voice is croaking and throat hurting this morning

so Mayweather-Mcgregor is on for Aug 26th. just a bit weird.

It'll be farcical. Floyd's hands are fucked so he won't throw anything big (in fact he hasn't stopped anyone since September 2011), McGregor won't lay a glove on the best defensive fighter the world has ever seen.

I see it'll be in one of the Vegas hotels. I presume Circus Circus.

I suppose $100million isnt a bad nights work for getting the head boxed off you,

the ultimate hype over substance event

Possibly the easiest payday either one of them will make and the hotels will be expensive as hell so win win for everybody.

It's a shame Wlad's retired after all the dicking about by Tyson Fury he's probably lost out on 2 rematches.

Joshua vs Wilder would be epic but I can see Fury somehow worming his way into a shot against Joshua

He wouldn't really be worming his way in. Fury was the true heavyweight champion before his problems and getting his boxing license revoked - he beat Wlad at his own game in Germany and he's not lost in the ring so its still the biggest fight for Joshua.

Wilder is a joke champion, there are problems when you can hold on to a belt for so long without facing any top fighters in the division. I don't really class Wilder as champion even though he holds the belt and that's not going to change until he starts fighting some live opponents.

Paper Champion?

I think that's Harsh. He is rated 3rd in the world, has won all but one of his fights by ko. I think it would be fairer to say he has been well managed but then so had Dillon White. I would like to see him face Joshua more than Joshua v Fury. I think Fury is gone personally.

Wilder has boxed at home a lot and boxed a lot of home boys. His 38 and 0 record with 37 ko is still worthy of praise. You can only beat what's in front of you and he has dispatched all bar one so there is plenty of power and ability there.

The question hasn't been about his power and ability to get people out of there, or even so much his general ability but there have been questions about his chin in the amateurs and in sparring, Wilder hasn't really fought anyone to test that in the pro game. His toughest fight was Stiverne which says something.

Amir Khan & his Wife's Twitter accounts have got interesting over the past hour. Time to get the popcorn out.

Normally if a boxers missus runs off with another bloke he'd sort him out. In this instance....unlucky

Faryal is such a stunner

Again, I say well managed. Bruno had similar issues back in his day. I hope he fights Joshua. I think AJ stops him in four , but he could put AJ on the seat of his pants first!
