Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

Miles in distance and feet in height, that's it for me. Still couldn't tell you how to break each one down into yards or pounds.

Either way imperial is just stupid for anything other than comparative measurements.

I use sat nav so it doesn’t matter if it is in miles or kilometres, it is how long it takes to get there that is relevant. I prefer stones and pounds to kilograms, but I am either overweight or I am not...the number is irrelevant, I can see it and my clothes don’t fit. I know my height and feet and inches and metres but if I am stuck behind a tall person at an away game it doesn’t matter how tall they are, I can’t see when they stand up.

If this was JRM’s first thought when he got the job, his priorities are seriously warped.

It is, although a dozen is a useful number in some cases (say food) as it is divisible by, 1,2,3,4,6&12.
My father would have called five shillings, (that was a crown wasn't it?) 'A Dollar' and a half crown a 'Half Dollar'. When I asked him why, he said when he was young it was four US $ to the £. I suppose it shows how far the value of sterling has slipped. I should point out he was born in 1919 and I was the last of 7 and he had me late in life, so I'm not that old, I can only just about remember 'old money'.

Was working for one of the major UK Banks when that happened - 2 (12 hr days) to change it over as we didn't have modern day computer capability to just push a button, then a number of months trying to explain it to our customers

A fairly onerous task I'd imagine!
I was here when speed limits went from MPH to KPH, I thought it would be a disaster, with changing all the speed limit signs overnight etc (in Ireland??) It actually went seemlessly. Amazed me tbh.

Literally no one in the UK under 45 understands imperial measurements. It's a pointless losing argument. Much like JRG.

I do and I'm under 45. Absolutely no need for them though as SI measurements are more accurate and simply easier to use.

Yeah? Must be like 43/44 as the cut off then. I'm 40 and have no clue.

I am a smart arse! I work in both was taught metric at school, imperial by my parents and take some perverse satisfaction in the mental conversion. That won't surprise many here I know.

Prefer weight in kg
Height in feet and inches Six foot one sounds better than 1.84

On the subject of measurement my ex wife lost loads of weight, put it all back on and so.e then lost loads again over a period of a couple of years. When I saw her I commented that she looked goodand that she had lost lots again. I am a size ten now she said. What , shoe I blurted ?

What a twat.

Nadine Dories has been given a low level job in Government. Classic Bannon trolling from the Trump playbook

Shock horror, Priti Patel has already broken the ministerial code.

Maybe don't appoint appalling people, just a thought?

Brexit take 10%, if those were Tory votes they would have won.

Given the reason for the by election being called I don't think you can draw too many conclusions on the Tory vote.
