I put £20 on Mordaunt being next Tory leader over a year ago when she was around 20/1. Sticking by her as my pick for who's next, not convinced by any polls so far simply because the vast majority of ordinary people have fuck all idea who most politicians are outside of the PM and Chancellor, even the LOTO.Bollocks, meant to put a few quid on Wallace and didn't get round to it
I don't think this is true. We're all ordinary on here and can name at least a half dozen MP's who were in the cabinet.I put £20 on Mordaunt being next Tory leader over a year ago when she was around 20/1. Unfortunately there's a lot of polling going back many years that would disagree!I don't think this is true. We're all ordinary on here and can name at least a half dozen MP's who were in the cabinet.
Now, now. He had opinions. In newspapers. That means everything in British politics.Mordaunt will have some level of recognition because she went on some shit ITV show years ago (can't remember what it was).
Johnson was obviously visible outside of politics long before he became a serious front bench figure. In fact prior to becoming Mayor of London he'd done pretty much fuck all as an MP. He had a minor Shadow Cabinet role under Howard and got sacked for being a lying cunt, that was it.
Counts for a lot, it's correct to say that the majority of people aren't as engaged as our little community is.
You just have to ignore the racist, sexist opinions that he regularly put forward as they were a joke or something. Now, now. He had opinions. In newspapers. That means everything in British politics.
I think your out on that, imo as a percentage of the relative populations, this forum is far more politically engaged than the general public.I don't think this is true. We're all ordinary on here and can name at least a half dozen MP's who were in the cabinet.
Reposting my favourite political cartoon of the last decade (although fuck me, the publication date is actually ten years and four months ago...):You just have to ignore the racist, sexist opinions that he regularly put forward as they were a joke or something.
I will never ever understand any of the fawning over him. He has always been a useless, idle fucking wanker.
I still class myself as ordinary and of the general public.I think your out on that, imo as a percentage of the relative populations, this forum is far more politically engaged than the general public.
It's not about anyone thinking they're better, it's just a high percentage of people on here are interested in politics.I still class myself as ordinary and of the general public.
I guess some folks think they're better
And my social group? And my kids school playground? It's not about anyone thinking they're better, it's just a high percentage of people on here are interested in politics.
Yep, his resignation speech didn't include the word 'resignation'.Nope, the fucker is clinging on Putin style.
He's not even resigned from the leader of the conservative party, just acknowledged they are replacing him as leader.
Hopefully he's removed tonight in some way.
Possibly, maybe I underestimate the general publics political will. And my social group? And my kids school playground?
I think Johnson has heightened everybody's political knowledge.
Of the Cabinet that was in place on Monday I reckon the following would be widely recognised by people who have a casual to limited interest in politics:And my social group? And my kids school playground?
I think Johnson has heightened everybody's political knowledge.
They already married at Westminster Cathedral last year.Seems fair enough, no one would want the disruption of resigning just before they get married.......
I'd go with that although I think Zahawi is well known.Of the Cabinet that was in place on Monday I reckon the following would be widely recognised by people who have a casual to limited interest in politics:
Johnson (obviously)
Sunak (plastered his own mug over a load of the Covid stuff)
Truss (Instagram bellend, takes loads of credit for stuff that has nothing to do with her)
Gove (been around for absolutely ages)
Dorries (was on shit reality TV, regularly goes viral for being a moron)
Mordaunt (as above without the moron bit, she could well be one but doesn't make it as obvious as Merlot Nads)
Rees-Mogg (widely known as he's such a weird bastard)
That's it. I'd say even Patel isn't *that* recognised, let alone the likes of Kwarteng, Shapps, Barclay and Zahawi. It's not many and a large portion of them have a 0% chance of becoming the next Prime Minister.
