1) By that time all the over 50's (who chose to have a jab) will be fully protected, plus those over 18 will be starting their jabs so another 3 weeks of vaccines.
2) Ensure the rising cases are not = hospitals filling up. From the last week or so, numbers of people going in has risen (back to an avergage of over 100 per day now) BUT the numbers are not really rising, today for example over 100 in but more than that have left so total in hospital has fallen today.

I think he will keep the majority onside if it is 2-4 weeks after that people will start turning on him. As he is Mr Seek Popularity, he will hate that and will act then

Covid is not an issue. It’s literally responsible for 1% of deaths and that’s WITH Covid, not necessarily OF Covid. 99% of the people vulnerable to Covid had 2 doses months ago. If anything they are now more vulnerable than the bloody 30 year olds we are waiting to vaccinate.

Extra 4 weeks and we will manage to vaccinate another few million people who have a 99.999999% survival rate. Achieves nothing.

The hospitals are empty. If anything now is the time to open (well a month or two ago would be better). Can’t wait for that wave in the autumn when another 5 variants make their way here.

Still can’t see/speak to a GP though. Did this my bike this morning and just wanted some guidance, don’t even answer the phone, just cut me off.

Fortunately New Cross answered and told me the minor injuries unit at Cannock is closed becuase of Covid so I had to go to A and E. They stitched me back together great. But what happens if there had been something actually wrong with me? Plenty of people try and see the GP when they are having a stroke or heart attack because they are very mild. If they are left though they don’t stay mild!

Old people die of respiratory illnesses. They have done for centuries. I’d love to know how many people dies of respiratory failure/pneumonia etc. 2 years ago in a normal year?

I could go on about stats, data, logic for hours but whatever. I find it baffling the volume of people who just accept this from the government.

It’s very sad. These people should count in the figures for the pandemic. They are the collateral damage.

I don't know age/health issues/vaccine status on the patients, but more people are coming into hospital with covid again.

Saying covid isn't an issue or that the hospitals are empty is plainly wrong

Well taking it in the literal sense yes. Obviously there isn’t “Zero Covid” (there won’t ever be either). Wasn’t really getting at that though was I? If anything the opposite

But yeah, hospitals will get busier as they were not very full (not “empty”) and people aren’t locked away in their houses anymore. I mean we could lockdown forever, that will keep Covid at bay.

You can find the official numbers on the government website, Andy. I don't know how many hospitals SaTH Trust has, but in total there is currently one Covid patient in them/it. (He or she is on a ventilator.) The last time there were two patients was 16 May. I'm fairly confident the Trust would be calling out those numbers if they were wrong. (Link)

Edit: I wonder if perhaps the 'Covid' wards are now filling up with people requiring treatment for other illnesses, since there are now hardly any Covid admissions in most of the country.

I have noticed Telford numbers have been rising quickly daily for a few weeks compared to other local areas like Shrops and Stafford when they had been about the same for a good while, but the last couple of days they have stabilised and maybe slightly dropped...hopefully it was just a temporary sharp rise and its coming under control again

I've no idea, but if they're not in hospital because of Covid (e.g. gone in for a new hip but found to have Covid at a level that wouldn't require hospital treatment) they aren't really part of the discussion.
