The second goal was past Ikeme before he could block it. Either he didn't see it until too late or his reactions were too slow.

Did anyone else that posts here get caught up in the shambolic policing of train travel back to Manchester?
I've been there a few times without issue but yesterday...

Tough one as a keeper, a situation like that is about as bad as you can be in, the lad has managed to control it in an extremely crowded box not from from the goal, you would need to be keeping an eye on him, trying to see through the bodies to do that, as well as trying to think about positioning for if it gets shifted to someone else, it comes from behind the other Bolton player too, you could potentially say he has got too close to his near post, however if he doesn't take that angle he leaves the near side open.

Batth needs to be forcing him off his right there at all cost, if he turns onto his left and makes a yard passed Batth, Ikeme's angle cuts the entire goal out.

If I remember correctly, or more to the point, if it's still the same as I remember it, Bolton had a lot more than an Island platform.
I know the police have authority to tell the North Manchester Control office (who'll tell the signalman) to put both trains as far away from each other as possible.
Seems dangerous to have both fans on the same platform....

I'm only going from reports elsewhere with that synopsis. Doesn't sound like anyone covered themselves in glory. Equally it doesn't sound like world war three.

My take on it is that I wouldn't police games, I would just let them fight and kill each other, so there places can be taken by a generation of fans who understand there is virtually no difference between those in the home end and those in the away. Just don't get it, maybe it's because I have always been a multi sports guy.

Fat chance of that. There are hardly ever any punches thrown, just a load of eyeballing each other like a bunch of domestic tabby cats :icon_lol:

As for the goals conceded, Danny Batth has taken a bit of flak for giving away the free-kick but I think the guy was just very quick to get past him. He had to make a challenge, even if it wasn't quite quick enough.

The second is just terrible defending.

If there was no one to keep 'em apart, they wouldn't be nearly so brave. Every ground should have a designated area where 'd!(%&£ds go to fight uninterrupted, and the rest of us can focus on the football.

The video shows a carriage or two behind us, infact I had become separated from my sons on boarding, they ended up in the carriage in front of me. For the most part there was simply frustrated banter at the lack of an effective train service to handle the large away following.
Personally I only wound up in the police 'bubble' down to my branded coat. It was only when we had been walked from Victoria to Piccadilly that I managed to pursade an officer that I wasn't going to Wolverhampton. My sons beat me home by the best part of an hour.
It just struck me that the police, clubs and rail providers could have provided a rather better experience given knowledge of attendance. I am however glad that I didn't wait for the direct service to Hazel Grove, having seen that video. I repeat, I've never had a bad experiance at Bolton apart from their rubbish old ground and the results.

Horwich Parkway is little more than a village station halt. The vast majority of passengers were Bolton/Manchester bound. If I go there again it will be by car, sod the benefit of a direct train service (1hour).

I've only been there on the train once and wouldn't again. It's too close to the ground which means you don't get people drifting in, everyone is there at the same time. Then the police try to segregate by locking you behind a large gate. There wasn't trouble when I went, but took a ridiculous amount of time to get to Manchester.
