Blackburn 0-2 Wolves (FA Cup 4th Round): Verdict Thread

2017: R5
2018: R3
2019: SF
2020: R3
2021: R5
2022: R4
2023: R3
2024: QF
2025: R5 (minimum)

Not a bad recent FA Cup record, especially considering before this season we kept relentlessly drawing Premier League teams in the early rounds.

Lage putting out a stupid team vs Norwich in 2022 was annoying and we got doubly robbed in 2023 at Anfield.

I'm hoping we get Preston next. Another game against a mid table Championship side, another game to play in Vítor's system and also winnable. Burnley would be a good test as well.

Fun fact - Gonçalo Guedes has scored 16.67% of all the goals Burnley have conceded this season in all competitions.

I also broke a personal record today. I watched Guedes for a whole 65 minutes and didn't swear at him once. I doubt I've gone 15 minutes before.

Not his best game but he did alright in a few different positions. He was absolutely fuming with João Gomes for not playing him in at one point in the second half. He would've had a tap in.

Munetsi benefits from the new player shine, if someone with a reputation played like that he'd be buried on here. That said he was out of position and had only had a couple of days training so too early to draw an opinion.

I've seen him shoot, I wouldn't have passed to him either :D

He did alright. One 50-60 yard run all on his own that showed some actual effort. Not many of his trademark touches that you wouldn't have down Aldersley. He's still not very good or ever going to be anything like worth what we inexplicably paid but we just need him to do a job for the next three and a bit months.

Yeah I thought he was rubbish tbh. Maybe a bit harsh as I'm not a fan of the signing but he seems a bit Dave Edwards to me. Always looks like he's falling over.

Let some joy in, guys :D

I'm on the Munetsi chaos train already

Yeah he has 'cult hero' potential, which isn't necessarily a good thing. We had a lovely 20 odd piece of keep ball which lead to him passing it straight to them and Agbadou nearly getting a booking to get him out of the shit. As I said though too early to draw any real conclusions.

The one that lead to the Agbadou foul started with Sarabia, he bottled the breakaway then played a stupid little chipped pass over a defender back to Munetsi - the control and passing got progressively worse then until Munetsi hit the poor ball back.

I can't think of a single aspect of Bueno's game that's even close to the required standard. An awful signing, he's as bad as Vallejo for me.

Competent centre backs and a structured system. I know we had a blip but Vítor deserves a lot of credit for how quickly he's implemented his ideas here.
That’s fair regarding the system. Need a foundation and build from there’

Shouldn’t build on quicksand etc etc

He plays like an overage player strutting around in a five aside game. Looks ok until he has to actually do anything and whatever he has to do he’s found wanting.

Whilst I agree bueno is poor, I’m not sure I’ve seen us sign a worse CB than Vallejo’s. factor in he came from real as well.
