Best holiday destinations

Cool. Where are you staying? Please don't mention 'UK' holiday whilst you're there or that you went to Guernsey first 😉
Outside St Hellier, Beachcomers Hotel, Grouville. The bus service looks really good so will be using it to get around

Yeah, the no1 route St Helier to Gorey Pier is about every 15 mins during the day. There's a couple of options with the buses. You can pay using contactless, buy an AvanchiCard pre-paid which you top up (fare is cheaper than contactless), buy an unlimited travel pass for 1, 2, 3 or 7 days, and pay cash (the most expensive option). Fares are a standard charge irrespective of the number of stops.

Gorey has some good restaurants and Mont Orguel castle is a must visit.

Grouville oysters rock!

A couple of recommendations for dining in Gorey (I suggest you pre-book);
Bass and Lobster
Sumas
The Moorings

Anyone been to/has recommendations for Buenos Aires?

Going to a few places in South America next month but have a couple of days in BA at the start. Wanted to do the River Plate and Boca Stadium tours but conscious of not making it all about football too. That said, the fixtures for second half of their Primera Division have just been announced and bloody hell, River are at home in the evening of the day we arrive (Boca who would’ve been the dream are at home the day we leave unfortunately). Looks like tickets are available via season ticket holders who themselves offer independent trips for tourists (yeah, I know) but they look kosher with good reviews and definitely fancy a piece of that.

Aside of that, would be nice to see some street Argentine Tango, walkabout, eat and drink in an authentic and relatively safe district so recommendations there would be appreciated. On the subject of safety, is a bit of a concern and interested to hear how others found that. Not sure how the natives would take to English particularly at the football but maybe it’s something and nothing on a matchday where there might be loads of tourists anyway and no big deal.
