Lamai beach in the south east of the Island or Choeng Mon/Bophut village in the north are all really nice places.

I've actually just booked 2 weeks in Sri Lanka travelling on my own in November - 4 days are being taken up by the Cricket but if anyone has any suggestions outside of that then I am all ears!

Don't know what it's like now but we stayed there in 2009 and it was fantastic. Nice and quiet and close to an unspoilt national park. And you can see dolphins in the bay
