Best holiday destinations

The second photo is awesome.

thanks yeah, that was some "next to god" level stuff. sunrise atop mt haleakala. we had to get up at like 2am to get there on time, but damn it was worth it. I took a bike down the mountain, which is what the 1st pic is.

unfortunately these aren't edited so not as nice looking as the ones on my drive at home, but you get the idea.

Kefalonia is a top place for those seeking a quieter sun and sea holiday. The south seemed quite busy when we were there, but the north where we stayed was pretty unspoilt, apart from all the yachty tossers.

Off to the Caribbean again in a few weeks. Crusing around Puerto Rico, Haiti and St.Maarten.

Have a few days in Florida again so wondering what to do this time? Last time we did Universal, Volcano Bay and Wild Florida gator park.

Wondering if we should do Islands of Adventure or Disneyworld? Anyone been to any good parks or attractions in Orlando?

I'm there now. IOA is better than Universal in my view, but depends what you are into. Many of the rides in US are 3/4d which I can admire the cleverness of but is all very samey. I prefer the old school coasters and flooms.

Disney is way better in terms of spectacle than the Universal parks. We went 5 years ago when the kids were 8 and 5 which was probably perfect. I'm not sure it would be for me as an adult without kids though, although there are plenty that do go without. If I'd pick one Disney park out without kids it would probably be Hollywood Studios and for true Disney it's Magic Kingdom. We also did Sea World 5 years ago which was really good, but does get some stick for keeping Orcas in captivity. If you can get beyond that then I'd recommend there.

From what I remember, nearly 20 years ago now though, Busch Gardens was the pick of the parks for coasters and more traditional rides plus it's got a zoo too. Doesn't really tie in particularly well with most Florida holidays though as most people tend to stick to Orlando, think we had a week in Orlando and a week elsewhere on the coast so we went to Busch Gardens while travelling between the two.

We are off to the coast about 40 mins from Tampa for a week today, I'd rather not go to BG as I'm theme parked out, but will probably lose that battle.

I don't think Glasgow Wolf is anywhere near there, so might be worth arranging a meet up with him...

:icon_lol:

Cheers Tony. We don't have kids but the missus is a bit of a Princess so I know she's keen on Disney.

So we will probably do Islands of Adventure and Magic Kingdom then. Sea World can fuck off, I am on the whales side!

Go to Tampa and do Busch Gardens. Brilliant roller coasters and lots and lots of Budweiser available there.

I presume that is the shitty Bud rather than the actual nice original Bud?

American Bud. Busch own the brand. Basically its available on tap for cheapies as much as you want (about two glasses was my limit, but I fucking hate American beer)

The coasters are brilliant though. If they still have Montu there, it was the best roller coaster I have ever been on. Absolutely awesome.

America has some exceptionally good beers.

But as you know I only really drink lager most of the time so things like Coors and Bud are dire.

American macro lager is utter bilge.

I like the Anchor Brewery, Founders and Sweetwater stuff. Some people raved about Sierra Nevada but I found it bland.
