Best holiday destinations

I loved Florence and Sienna. And yet I thought Pisa was basically a shithole suburb of Livorno.
We didn't bother with Pisa when our cruise stopped off at Livorno, took a walk around town then a trip to a lovely old little town called Luca. Seemed much more to see than a badly built bell tower.

The other thing about the Tower is it's an Italian version of Trigger's broom

The best bit about Pisa is that it is all in one precinct. Which makes it convenient for all those wishing to flog you dodgy fags at the entrance.

I didn't mind the tower or the church and must've caught it on a relatively quiet day. I didn't care much for the rest of Pisa though.

On my third night in Florence, it's a lovely city, well worth visiting.

Heading to Rome tomorrow.

Loved Florence. Pizza restaurant overlooking the Ponte de vechio was ace! Also climbed the duomo!

Sorry, only just seen this. Did you visit the Passchendaele battlefield!

Yes we did Frank. The most haunting bit though was the German cemetery and the mass grave containing an average attendance at Molinuex. It was a very good, but sombre, trip.

We spent a couple of hours in Pisa, just to tick off the leaning tower. I'm glad we left and headed to Florence.

Rome is amazing, well worth a visit. We have three nights there before heading down to pompeii got 2 nights and then home.

I agree completely. I considered it to be hauntingly beautiful. I found it hard to believe that such terrible things had happened at such a serene place.

My favourite thing about Italy was the cake for breakfast and two main courses

Florence is ace, Pisa is a wonky tower where everyone takes "amusing" photo's, Rome is cool, Vatican is worth seeing even for a heathen like me, Verona is good too and Venice is good for a couple of days

Dalmatian coast in Croatia is great, went for 10 days to a fairly obscure place and didn't meet another British person for ages. Very cheap, locals friendly and the roads are surprisingly good. A few national parks to go walking in. Would recommend

Went to Zadar for 4 days a couple of weeks ago. Absurdly cheap and absolutely beautiful.

Does the sea organ sound better than it does on you tube? That's on my bike to list for next year,I'd hate to get there and it sounds rubbish

Rome was one of my fav holidays. We were all 16/17 at college, so we could all legally drink as well ha, was ace. I went to The Vatican in a particular Cradle of Filth T-shirt so I am probably going to hell :icon_rolleyes:.

Would like to visit Naples but I hear mixed reviews from people I know who've gone...

You wore JESUS IS A CUNT round the vatican???????

Holy shit - the only thing worse would have been my old Nuclear Assault Hang the Pope t-shirt!!

I did. I was a bastard. Ha yes yours might have been even worse!!!

man I went to new york a few weeks ago and liked it way more than anticipated. can't wait to go back.

It's good - went a bit crazy in the stormy weather when we were there but was lovely peaceful backdrop during the 'normal' days.
