Mike Dean is just doing that on Soccer Saturday though I think. Not on the live games

Martin Keown making out yesterday was statement win by Arsenal. Seriously it’s on penalties and everyone knows Pep treats the charity shield like the friendly it is.

I think Pep takes it seriously, his reaction to the goal suggests that.

But yeah, it was a last minute scrappy equaliser, nothing like a statement win at all.

Man City have lost their last three Charity Shields. It makes bugger all difference to them.

I'd forgotten it was bloody Drury on Sky this year. That's going to annoy me all season.

Ah I quite like Drury! Gets a bit carried away sometimes though…

A mention for Vicky Sparks on fivelive for Women’s World Cup quarter final yesterday. Another one who forgets that radio listeners can’t see pictures. I couldn’t give a monkeys chuff about the rugby league, other live games over the weekend, dark skies in Sydney or anything else other than what you are supposed to be describing. I think that the England winner had nothing with regards to any build up just “Russo” followed by “clinical”.

Gabby Logan (Yorath) "England have reached the World Cup Final for the first time since 1966"

No they haven't, the FIFA Women's World Cup was only founded in 1991

Not really, no. When Emma Raducanu won the US Open she wasn't the first British player to win a major since Andy Murray, she was the first British female since Virginia Wade.

Charley Hull has two second place finishes this year in golf majors but there's no mention of her following in the footsteps of Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose etc.

The equivocation of the male and female game seems silly to me. It feels incredibly forced with football, as does the cringey 'Lioness' branding that gets pushed. Nobody refers to Harry Kane or Harry Maguire as a lion do they. That said I haven't watched a second of the Women's World Cup so don't know how good or bad the coverage is. Do they ever use male footballers as pundits for the women's game, or is that mainly something they do the other way round?

Ian Wright has done it previously, he's just Ian Wright which I personally love these days.

They've had Jonas Eidevall on this tournament who is the current Arsenal Women's manager.

Not watched much but Ian Wright and some Scandinavian/Dutch bloke have been featuring

I'd imagine former pros on the women's side are brought to the men's broadcasts more often because that will mean extra exposure the women's side otherwise wouldn't have had. As opposed to the men who basically everyone already watches.

Live football punditry changed forever when the Keays/Gray dynasty came to an end.
