Beer

Went to Lidl (for a change) and saw a box of 6 Belgian beers.
Gulden Draak 10.5%
Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple 10.5%
Bornem 7.2%
Bournem Double 9%
Piraat 10.5%
Piraat Triple Hop 10.5%

A bit pricey at €16.95 but an interesting change...
Anyone ever had them?
The Bornem's are a bit meh but the others are all good. Van Steenberge are one of Belgium's best breweries.

Yeah, I get that box every year. Nothing amazing, but all decent strong Belgian fayre.

The Triple Hop is probably the highlight.

I'm so lucky - I've a Holdens AND a Bathams pub both within a 5 minute walk of my house.

Posting this from aforementioned Bathams pub...

Do you find at the end of the evening the pubs have moved and your walk back is 25 mins?

Spent many happy hours in the Lamp (this was before 'happy hours' were invented) in the 70s.....doubt the Mynah bird is still on the bar.

On a good day, yes. Sometimes, 'weather conditions' mean it's nearer an hour

Any idea what you paid for them?
On an individual basis from a specialist beers shop you're talking between £2-4 a bottle so it's a reasonable deal. If you were in Belgium you'd probably get all of them individually for comfortably less than €15 in a supermarket.

I know it's fairly commonplace but just having a pint of Thatchers Haze on tap which I've never had before other than Thatchers in cans.

Really nice. Quite sweet which I like from a cider.

Bathams in tonight in my Rutland village pub. What a great start to the weekend.
Awwww yes! Have family over in Stourbridge and I always get treated to the Bathams run when I go over there for the day...HOW IS IT SOOOO GOOOOOD?

Gimmicky nonsense.

Northern Monk did a Henderson Relish Bloody Mary porter abomination a couple of years ago. Better than that they did a Ronseal Medium Oak Best Biteer!
