Beer

Whilst I am here. I'm in York for 2 days next week...any decent bar recommendations (or shit bars...not fussy)

Pivni.

Either of the house of the Trembling Madness bars (the smaller above their shop has a better atmosphere).

BrewYorks Tap and beerhall.

Any of those are good places to start.

If you're after cocktails then Evileye is also good.

Ninja'd by Leeds.

House of The Trembling Madness
Brew York
York Tap
Market Cat
Fossgate Tap
Pivni

There's also a Brewdog...
Top of that list gets a visit just for the name!

I don't mind a Brewdog. Had some decent drinks in some...such as the one in St Andrews but doubt I will visit the York one though.

It's at the top of the list for a much better reason 😉

Sad news that Alpha Delta are having to pack it in. A shame as they did some really good brews.

Another vote for the house of trembling madness in the shambles. Walking through the shop to go up the stairs is weird but it's a cracking bar.

Evil Eye is great too.

You'll be unlucky if you find a bad pub/ bar around there tbh. Most of the chain pubs are on the main thoroughfares.

Haven’t been to York for about 20 years but the last time I did I had a naan bread served on a coat hanger.
Standard. Stops it getting wrinkles in it...

There are two "House of Trembling madness" one is a viking hall and the other a Georgian town house, both good. The viking hall one is cooler but much harder to get in.

The lost from Leeds pretty much nails it, but Jack's shout of Pivni is excellent.

Went to Lidl (for a change) and saw a box of 6 Belgian beers.
Gulden Draak 10.5%
Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple 10.5%
Bornem 7.2%
Bournem Double 9%
Piraat 10.5%
Piraat Triple Hop 10.5%

A bit pricey at €16.95 but an interesting change...
Anyone ever had them?
