Beer

:icon_lol:

I'm not that daft!

Dog & Doublet up for sale...

Been the case for a month or more now. Apparently it's gone way downhill over the last year or so (can't actually remember the last time I went in). Looks like at the moment they just do their music nights on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday and that's it, it's not open any other time.

IIRC the same guys who own the D&D also own/owned the Newhampton (which closed last year).

It's a long time since I supped in there. It used to have a 6 day licence.

The Beer's OK, too many Marston's on but they do serve a cracking Slumbering Monk when they have it.

Food's good.

The layout just doesn't work as it is. Huge pillars right infront of the door and within yards of the bar makes it a nightmare getting in and getting served when it's even remotely busy. Plus, they always seem to have the slowest/stiffest hand pulls known to mankind. Can take about 5 minutes to pour a Bathams!

Neil Franklin the former Stoke City & England Centre-half was the landlord at the D&D in the mid 70s. The 6 day licence was a condition placed by Lord Harrowby (the pub was part of the Sandon estate) IIRC.

Had all of those except the Loka Polly. Chubbles should've mellowed by now too.

Sat in BrewDog Cardiff enjoying the Overworks Panavision Pink. It's more Tart than Noise Pollution, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Only been once, but it was really good. Good selection of beers too.
