Beer

Last night's Beerbods was Atlantic White by Brains Craft Brewery - Brains have a small craft brewery built within their main site where they make more experimental, specialist and collaboration brews. I think I remember reading that they have a craft bar in Cardiff as a main outlet for them.

The Atlantic White is a blegian style witbier loaded with American citrus hops, orange Curacau and corriander seeds. It was pretty clear for a witbier and not as "wheaty" as you'd normally expect. Loads of orange citrus bitteness, which coupled with the bready belgian yeast, reminded me of marmalade on toast!

It was ok, but I'm not really a fan of wheat fan, I find them too sickly, and this one was ultimately no different.

Looking forward to a couple of beers tonight after the "first week back" hell of work!

CAMRA are recognising and allowing the use of Key-Kegs at the Manchester Beer Festival....

Time to widen those horizons, LeedsWolf :D

Was trying to do dry January but a shit first week back at work and the Afobe news has lead me to pop the Evil Twin Heretic Red IPA in the fridge.

I do like a Red IPA :D Have you had that one before?
Just having a Slater's Queen Bee. Subtle sweet honey beer. Very nice it is too. Got a Howling Hops, Rye Wit and a O'Hara's Irish Pale Ale lined up for the evening.

Why didn't I know about this?? Guess I know where I'm drinking in Cardiff next.

Just on my first beer of the night, a Beavertown 8 Ball Rye IPA, and a cracking beer it is too.

Golden Glow is on marvellous form this evening.

Nope, but it's bloody good! Didn't realise it was 6.8%!

Now onto an 8 Wired Tall Poppy Indian Red IPA. Very dark and moody but refreshing, bold fruitiness with a malty background. Top stuff.

Sounds good Booz. Will keep an eye out.
Not digging the O'Hara's. Tastes a bit like socks.

I've had a few 8 Wired beers now and they're all good, fancied cracking some Weird Beard but I'll leave those til tomorrow night.

The O'Hara's wasn't the best admittedly.

No need for patronising is there? As far as my horizons, I was drinking beer that was dispensed from a plastic bag back in the 70s.

Fourpure IPA, man that's hoppy! Glad I opted for the Fourpure now, great beer.

Didn't think that much of mine. Smelt hoptastic but lacked any punch.

Got a Ska Brewing Rudie IPA on the go now - a nice tipple.

I was attempting light-hearted tongue-in-cheek. Apologies.

To be fair I'd just eaten 1/8 of a wheel of Stilton so that probably tarnished the flavour a little bit. Still a nice brew.

I would hazard a guess that standards have risen slightly since then.

Really? In what way? It is still filtered bright beer. I prefer mine to be dropped bright.
