Aston Villa (H) build up 14/10

So glad he doesn't put any stock in that bullshit "oh boo we just won so now the break will derail us" theory.

I love every interview he gives. Have we ever had a more thoughtful, erudite, intelligent manager? He speaks with such a calm reassurance and wisdom, you can't help but feel big things await him.

You'd have to be pretty worried about any manager that said that the day before a match.

But I agree, he's refreshing to listen to. Weird how people with English as a second language often talk so much more sense!

Probably closer to "weird how people who grew up outside the English media talk so much more sense!"

Not to say this is true in all cases, but still.

I'd love to say I speak much more sense in German. It's not true though.

We definitely need someone better than Mikey Burrows to interview him. You can tell how annoyed Nuno gets with the inanity of what he's asked and how Mikey insists on talking to him as if he's a four year old.

Top tomorrow with just a point providing Sheff Utd don't batter Ipswich.

Oh yes, but no I like the subtle condescending nature of his replies. I can't think of the last eloquent manager we had before Nuno?

Mick had a very nice turn of phrase at times, I'm sure he wouldn't describe himself as eloquent (!) but I liked hearing from him. Still do.

Impossible not to admire Taylor's passion for the game and his desire to do well for us - even if I didn't like the way he played football.

McGhee was a bollix, Lee and Ken were both dull, DJ was a fucking idiot most of the time, Hoddle talked non-stop shite, Lambert tied himself in knots all the time, Zenga was incoherent, Stale came across as increasingly odd and then there was some Welsh guy apparently, I forget what he was all about.

Dont think Burrows is much worse or better than loads of other interviewers, that includes Sky and the Beeb, they pretty much all ask the same inane/cliche'd questions that we can all guess the answers to, Nuno always seems able to answer in a sensible and reasoned manner unlike some other managers i.e. Mourinho etc........tbf Mick often made me chuckle with his blunt responses, Nuno is just a lot more elequent

Ill never not laugh at thst reporter asking if Mick was happy at Gerrard returning to fitness right before we played Liverpool.

"Oh aye, thrilled" :icon_lol:

Exactly, because of my ripe old "age" of 30, I don't really remember Taylor at Wolves so Mick is my only really comparison in that sense.

Looking forward to today now, although I can't be there myself.

Mick was great with the media. We had a bit of a wobble when we were top of the league but the teams chasing us did too.

A reporter asked Mick if he thought we were lucky that the teams below us had lost when we were losing. Mick replied that he thought they were lucky because we were losing!

Aye Mick was ace with media, lots of hidden comedy/sarcasm aswell

Buzzing for today's game now. About to drop the kids off at their nans and then beer time.

2-0 I reckon. Jota first goal

Quietly confident for this evening. If we play like we can I think we'll have too much for them. Jota and Costa running at their back line should be fantastic.
