I would say this is worse than losing to Holland at the T20 World Cup (which cost Giles his job), given that:
- T20 is by its very nature prone to random, freak events and odd results from time to time
- The 2014 defeat was a dead rubber anyway
- The conditions we're playing in here and how they should massively favour us rather than Bangladesh
- Chasing a relatively paltry total and failing
Everyone saw this coming with Morgan though, he had been in no form at all for months and has been on an inexorable slide for about four years. You don't drop a failing captain who is struggling for runs and appoint someone who has been playing even worse for a long period. I hope I never see him in an England shirt again, it was down to him to set the tone and he has contributed nothing of his own with the bat and very little by way of dynamism in the field or with our approach to setting/chasing targets.
Plenty saw this coming with Moores, don't reappoint someone who failed dismally the first time and since then has a relegation from Division One of the County Championship on his CV. The results were awful last time and they have been awful this time. He just does not belong at this level. Giles never had his strongest team available in ODIs, Moores does not have that excuse and has a miles inferior record.
