O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

Thought he took on his man well and took up some good positions, just rancid at corners and from time to time he drifted meaning Semedo had no one in front of him and had to do it himself - but if it’s a new position to him those things will happen.

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

I have a lot of bitterness as to how Lop conducted himself but he did leave us well prepared for United, and the players have top fitness levels now. Not attributing the latter totally to Lop as O’Neil has been here for nearly two months now but he did leave us in a very good way. Hobbs said as...

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

Yes, I get it too - but his conduct could have been better I think. I did like him a lot but he lost a lot of respect from me for the GB interview, and comments around and about the squad at that time. Let’s just hope we don’t lose a third manager by ducking around.

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

I think it’s the circus that was created that made me more bitter to Lopetegui. Absolutely zero need to conduct an interview where he called out the board despite his frustrations. I remember a Johnny Phillips article in the summer where he said Nuno had similar problems of plans changing/funds...

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

And let’s be honest, he’d have been gone the first sign of a European club/clubs with those ambitions who required less work than we do. Ballague was touting him for Spurs about a week after the season ended. Not saying O’Neil won’t jump at the chance of a “big job” but he’s quite far from...

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

I entirely agree. He played a dirty card and it didn’t work. He thought his reputation meant the board would bow to what he wanted.

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

I agree he was a bit dickish about it, but I think he did accept a lower pay off due to the FFP troubles (happy to be corrected if wrong) and he stuck around to keep the players fit and ready until we found someone else. Him and his coaching staff were on £10m per season - I wonder if Gary and...

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

It’s the classic “we’ve won a game, let’s not get ahead, that’s the performance level now”.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

I didn’t know if it was a mitigation after Sa booted it out once far too quickly, and it came straight back and we conceded. Just found it interesting!

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

The goal kick thing is a bit odd by the way, Sa tends to pass it out to Kilman or Dawson to distribute: is this to mitigate Sa’s hot head at times or is it just something we’ve done in every game this season?

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Sometimes it just takes a moment of magic, or two (Sarabia you show off) for the chance to go in. We don’t let our heads drop now or inwardly “give up” when we miss chance after chance, or go behind. That is a huge mentality change to the past two years and is the biggest difference for me.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Yep. I haven’t seen build-up like that since the Jimenez/Jota heydays. I’ll spare Lop the criticism as he set us up to firefight last season, but we’ve rarely been incisive in our build-up since Jimenez’s horrific injury. We still mess up that final ball - pass, cross, whatever - but at least...

One thing is for certain, the media really, really like him.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Completely agree. He (Semedo) was often the outlet yesterday as he was in space due to that high line. You almost want NunoDohertyMax, but I’m not sure who that is who would be in our price range.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

He has been excellent recently and will be a big miss against Fulham. A back three allows him to nullify dangerous forwards.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

I think I would be looking to a RWB and a winger for the January window. We’ve only really got Neto, Bellegarde was OK yesterday but is clearly being asked to play a position he isn’t entirely comfortable with.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Same as Lopetegui last season. I would say the football was dire on the whole (that’s not me slighting him) but that’s just how you set up a firefighting team when you need to start getting results quickly.

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

I think this is something O’Neil said in one of his very first interviews - that he knows the problem with Wolves, not enough men in the box and not enough commitment/confidence in the attacking play. Correct me if I’m wrong, of course. And his words were similar to yours: keep getting there and...

    Wolves 2-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Just watched the MOTD highlights and we so often had 5 men across the forward line, even in the 90th minute. Absolutely bonkers.

    Relegation Thread 2023/24

Dare I say it, but we will be absolutely fine. 10th-13th.
