Yackity Yack, Let's Talk Zack

I'm old enough to remember the Greens getting ridiculed for suggesting that NATO maybe wasn't the best way forward.

Life comes at you fast.

The fucking irony.

Firstly - I originally responded to TT, who said what was there to like about him. You’re the one who started with a “pithy retort” as usual when anything left wing rears its head.

Secondly - I think I largely agree with him that we should be finding every way to be more aligned with the EU than the US. The problem obviously is that we are in the position we are in which I don’t think he’s oblivious to.

Not sure what the touchy/personal weirdness and F bomb is about, but anyway.

I don't think the bizarre Brazil/Mexico alliance suggestion comes across particularly well, aligned with the priority list where challenging American imperialism is at the top of the list, and Russia some way behind that. Doesn't strike me as very... political

And the stuff about NATO reform is pretty confused and contradictory (at least how he puts it across)

Not seeing much of the mooted great communicator?

All I said was what I originally said to TT - something that other parties/leaders quite simply don’t/won’t do. You’ve turned it into about international relations. I’ve tried to answer but I’m not going to pretend I’m as informed as you clearly are.

I think the other thing I like about him is that he doesn’t pretend he’s perfect. Which is why I think it’s odd people thinks he’s smug. For example - he went on TRIP and didn’t prepare properly for the second half of that interview when it became about finances etc. even if he thought it wasn’t going to be about that he was naive not to prepare, and he’s since said so.

And as I said to TT, I think it’s telling who the type of people are that it upsets when he says he wants to address inequality. You can pretend that’s a normal opinion but we aren’t seeing that. In fact I don’t think I even see you present that opinion ever.

Ah you've busted me. Big inequality fan here, can't get enough of it 😉

You don't have to have an opinion on the international relations stuff, it's just an interview that aired today that I thought was interesting and it's also something every party leader will get scrutinised on.

I feel pretty politically homeless ATM so I'm open to listen to anything reasonable, Greens included. I'm happy with genuine environmental concerns being brought to the table, as well as any popular/'common sense' left wing social or financial positions, especially regarding social health care/NHS provision and the nationalising of public utilities. I've always found Green views on defence a little naive, and that's what would stop them being a definite option for me.

I quite like a lot of what he says. He doesn’t seem very green though which is a bit sad.
