Wolves Women Thread

So is anyone going to the Black Country Derby at Molineux tonight?

As a reminder, it's free entry to STH, but you do need to book your ticket in advance. It looks like they've had to open the Stan Cullis stand as well as the Billy Wright, so it should be a good attendance at least.

League Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea to be hosted at Molineux as well on Sunday 31st.

Seems they've lost a couple of their better players due to the lack of financial investment in salaries. Jeff and his priorities

I thought they were amateur? A few employed by the club in other ways, Skye Owenn is one that comes to mind, but no actual pros?
And that this was a choice of the players?

They are, that's my point. It's not the choice of the players, it's the choice of Shi. Stoke have just gone semi-pro and are in the same league so an easy decision to make

The team is going backwards because they didn't want to invest when the team was good. It's only going to get harder but clearly Shi n co don't want to a 2nd division team or they'd be semi-pro now already. Forest, Burnley etc will all go past them next season.

Losing a player like Merrick, who bleeds Old Gold, because those running the team have less ambition than 4th division Boldmere, should be embarrassing. More players will leave and who knows what will happen when the manager gets poached.

Shi and Hobbs get away with it because they can.

Definitely not Hobbs' remit.

Not saying we get it right but the crappy structure of the league system kind of discourages investment. So many hoops to jump through before you can hit the WSL, and it isn't like you make money once you get there.

Karl Henry is the manager?!

Hobbs is the clubs' sporting director, hes responsible, however much he doesnt care/is hands off.

Bit confused about Karl Henry being mentioned - Daniel McNamara is the coach?

Karl Henry is manager of Boldmere

Matt Hobbs has 0% to do with the women's team

The club isn't the BBC website. Men's and women's football are pretty much separate entities in every club (unless you are Chelsea and fancy selling the women's outfit to yourself at ridiculous over value for FFP purposes) and the main sporting director is there for the men's first team. That's what brings in the money (in theory). There will be a completely different reporting line with decisions made about the ladies' side.

Shi at the top of it will have some overall say as Chairman of the whole shebang but it is extremely unlikely Hobbs would have any involvement at all.

"One pack" hits different these days I guess.

I know Sellars was involved during his time, no reason provided to say Hobbs shouldn't. And I haven't heard a name of this mysterious person who's his equivalent on the women's side reporting directly to Shi. Jenny Wilkes may? But she's not Hobbs' equivelant.

There's no PFR requirements around the team, so Fosun running the team like the maintenance at Molineux says a lot about how much they actually care.

Hobbs over looks the Womens team but like everything at Wolves, what he can do is controlled higher up.
They really needed to get that promotion as it feels as if Shi won't push the boat out until they are at that level.

Then they never will be. Newcastle, Forest Burnley and Stoke have all gone semi pro in the last couple of years from the same division. The latter 3 will be there this season.
