Wolves Academy Thread

Flatt needs to command his box more effectively. In a stadium as empty as it is now, you should be able to hear his calls clearly.

Our pass and move play is wonderful. It's good to see attractive football working its way down through the different teams. Cut a few of the small mistakes away and I think we can be confident of at least a point.

Pleasantly surprised we're playing 4231. Was expecting 442.

It's quite funny watching O'Hara when he has to sprint. His arms pumping and his legs power away but he hardly moves anywhere. Despite his obvious lack of pace and stamina he's actually done alright. Still dawdles on the ball too much and gives away possession too easily sometimes.

Everything I've seen of him since January 2013 suggests he doesn't have the intelligence to adapt his game and compromise for his limited mobility. As a result he contributes very little of any worth, he's never in any areas where he can influence the game. I gave him some leeway last season because of the moron preparing our tactics but this is just a carbon copy of any of his displays in our first team back then. If you put him in a U18s fixture or pitched him into Telford's team I suspect exactly the same would happen.

2-0, Wilson again. He's looked very sharp. Lax defending from Tank.

Forde off for Erdei, 20 minutes too late in my opinion. He offered very little.

Shite from Hause.

Wilson looks quite the prospect. Three absolute rockets.

Isnt Hause still coming back from a bad knock from 3 weeks ago. Maybe not upto full speed yet.

"Alright" wasn't exactly praise btw, a player of his experience should be head and shoulders above U21 players. Put him in our team right now and he'd be an instant weak spot.

I know it's become a bit of a cliche but all he seems to contribute defensively is to stand around and point at players making runs beyond him.

Flatt - Not commanding enough. Needs to raise his voice more often. Flapped at crosses and missed fairly simple catches.

Iorfa - Did reasonably well and limited chances down his side.
Tank - Looked quite ordinary.
Hause - Not a great game. Calamitous at times during the first half. At fault for the 3rd goal. Otherwise looks comfortable on the ball.
Cranston - Did well against their pacey forward line. Limited crosses down his side.

O'Hara - A couple of "Hollywood" moments intertwined with good link play.
Parry - Excellent. Tireless running, ambitious passing. Definitely one worth thinking about in the future if he keeps that standard up.

Forde - Useless. Played a free kick that didn't clear the wall. Almost forgot he was playing.
Whittall - The pick of the central 3. Seemed to interchange with Parry at times.
Kostrna - Drifted in and out of the game.

Reid - Bags of potential. Limited service.

Torras - One or two classy touches but the game was gone by the time he came on.
Erdei - Not enough time for an impact. Needed to come on for Forde much earlier.
Kellerman - Not enough time for an impact.

3-0 at full time and we faded badly towards the end.

I'll try and do some player verdicts:

Flatt: Looked far too hesitant off his line whenever tested aerially, a couple of very unconvincing flaps as well. Didn't really have any chance with the goals. One smart stop in the first half. Kicked ok.

Iorfa: Probably our best player on the night. Got forward well and did his defensive work well to the point where his opponent (Parreira?) got hooked on the hour. Looks promising. I might be getting him mixed up with someone else but I thought he played in central midfield for the U18s? Whatever, he did well tonight.

Tank: Bog standard lump of a centre half really. Hard to see him ever making it here. Got made to look a right mug by Wilson for the second.

Hause: Early days, might be coming back from an injury, but this was not impressive at all. Clumsy and indecisive, and badly at fault for the third. Based on that showing, if our first team centre halves went down with the Ebola virus I'd rather play Elokobi. Nowhere near ready.

Cranston: Had a decent battle with United's right winger. Got booked and was beaten a couple of times but gave it everything and kept going until the end.

Whittall: Bit of a nothing player really. Can't see him making it here.

Kostrna: Ditto.

O'Hara: As I say, I don't think he has the intelligence to adapt his game. He's had enough time to realise now that his body only allows him to do certain things but it doesn't seem to sink in. That leaves you with a mix of disappearing for long periods, giving away possession quite a lot and almost never being high enough up the pitch to influence the game. Chuck in his trademark lack of defensive ability and seriously, I can't see anyone taking him on, not in this country anyway. He wouldn't have any impact at any club playing like this. Dead balls were shit as well.

Parry: Started very brightly, cutting inside a lot from the left and a few dangerous runs at the defence, really should have had at least an indirect free kick right on the edge of the box very early on. Faded a bit as United got hold of the game and eventually subbed. Plenty to work with there though.

Forde: Really cannot see how he managed to be getting Premier League gametime three years ago and how he's managed to get a contract running through to 2015. Has pretty much no attributes beyond being able to control a ball and pass it simply to an adequate degree. No pace, no strength, no guile, no delivery, no goal threat. And no chance of having any first team impact.

Reid: Short on service but looked lightweight whenever faced with a bit of physical presence. Tough to judge a forward on that kind of game but he struggled. Like Hause, absolutely miles away from being ready for the first team.

Kellerman, Torras and Erdei came on and hardly touched the ball.

Wilson looks a fantastic prospect, strong, three quality finishes, occupied the back four all game.
