Wolves Academy Thread

The new “no u18’s” rule makes it more surprising that we didn’t add to our Dutch youngsters in the summer.

there’s an athletic article about villa saying that they revamped their academy and signed “a glut” of 16 year olds this summer in preparation for this ruling.

I guess we’ll be looking for youngsters to move to grasshoppers at 16 now, and we’ll sign the best ones at 18 - wouldn’t be supposed if fosun looked to add another feeder club though.

Just means the smaller clubs in England are going to find it even harder to hold onto players up to 16 - and it is bad enough already.

The easy way to do that is limit the age group size but the FA won't do it because of the pathway they are wedded to which at the moment is working.

Pro deal for Arinbjornsson.

He hasn't got to do much to be better than our other Icelandic players...

The u21’s lost 2-1 to port vale in the papa johns trophy. The only one of the first team subs to play was Hoever.

I ended up watching it because what else are you going to do?

We played well and were the better team until the last 10-15 minutes where we tired. The pitch looked heavy and suited Vales game as our intensity dropped.

Indeed. Wolves dominated the first 15-20 minutes of the 2nd half, but tired mainly due to the conditions.

Playing West Brom (U23s I think) at 12 - will be on the Wolves youtube channel live I think

We've come from behind twice and now lead 3-2. Shabani, Buur and Corbeanu with the goals.

He's certainly racking up the goals (mind you so did Leon and BAS at times, doesn't necessarily mean anything).

He has been training with the 1st team. Right now it makes sense to pop him on the bench, at least then we move from 0 forward options to 1 (presuming we stick with the current formation and all 4 attackers start)

Yeah he'll be on the bench when time is right, but he looks to have good potential.

The biggest compliment is that he stands out at this level, he's not just a flat track bully.

McBurnie got a ton of goals at this level cos he's fooking massive. To me, Corbeanu looks like he shouldn't be playing at this level because he's too good.

Just watched the highlights and it's clear Shabani is way above that level.

Deal to 2023 (plus a year's option) for Sondergaard.

It's needed. Does seem to have potential. Maybe Sarkic comes back in to be back up to Rui next season and Sondegaard goes on loan.
