Great goal by Bright. Actually prefer his goal to the Sunderland wonder strike.

Great to see them celebrating at the end as well.

Great stuff. I would really like to see Bright get a run of games, but not sure where that's going to happen.

We also won tonight against Rugby ( I think) quite a few u18s involved

I disagree. Yes Bright took his goal very well, but he should never have been allowed to turn like that. I thought it was fairly ordinary defending.

Brights goal reminded me a bit of SEB.

I liked that skill from the Sunderland player before they hit the post. Guy looked very good on the ball

Next Round of the FL Trophy we are away at Swansea

Funny how the U23 squads keep getting drawn against each other isn't it.....

Not really

Mansfield Town v Walsall or Oldham

Luton v Chesterfield

Oxford v Scunthorpe

Blackpool v Wycombe

Cheltenham or Leicester U21 v Bradford

Yeovil v Southampton U21 or Reading U21

Coventry v Brighton U21

Swansea U21 v Wolves U21

The defending was forced by Bright keeping the ball off the ground. The defender would have had a very difficult time doing anything more than he did without conceding a penalty. He made the right choice, IMO, trusting his goalkeeper behind him.

Luckily for us, Bright had enough skill to take Mannone out of the equation.

It was a brilliant piece of attacking play, and made the defender look poor, rather than poor defending making Bright look good.

The defending was garbage!

Not tight enough to start with which gave Bright opportunity to take a touch under little pressure, then tried to make up for it by getting way too tight and allowing Bright to spin in behind him. Once Bright had took the touch he needed to make it harder for him to turn and find space to shoot, getting that tight made it incredibly easy for a player of his strength.

Good composure after that to put the keeper on the deck before making the finish though.

U23s are playing WBA at Aggborough tonight. Enobakhare and Burgoyne are unavailable as they are with the first team squad.

No Wilson there - is he injured, or involved with the first team too?

More often than not a batman's average drops when made captain. I'd rather Cook steps down after next winters Ashes than now and play the Aussies without the additional pressure on Root.

I'm not sure Cook's the answer to our problems in midfield though.

30 yard free kick from Connor Ronan, 1-0 Wolves
