Wolves 6-1 Shrewsbury. FA Cup 3rd Round Verdict Thread.

I used to work with that guy 20 odd years ago.

Always been a bit odd. He was also behind this abomination:

We're Wolverhampton Wanderers baby,
Remember times of old,
Billy Wright and Stevie Bull,
Scoring loads of goals,
But now the tide and times are changing,
We're gonna get it right,
Now get up on your feet and sing it,
Until the morning light!

Cause it's Hi Ho Wolverhampton,
Let's score some goals, now baby,
You'll see the good times coming,
We'll be on a roll,
Cause we're the Wanderers!

We're Wolverhampton Wanderers baby,
We're wearing Gold and Black,
We're gonna take the game right to ya,
An all out attack,
We need you all to get behind us,
And cheer us on,
So stand up tall and raise your voices,
And sing on and on!

Cause it's Hi Ho Wolverhampton,
Let's score some goals, now baby,
You'll see the good times coming,
We'll be on a roll,
Cause we're the Wanderers!

We're Wolverhampton Wanderers baby,
Who the hell are you?
We're gonna take the game right to ya,
Nothing you can do,
So get back on your bus and go home,
The three points are ours,
Now get up on your feet and sing it,
And sing it proud!

Cause it's Hi Ho Wolverhampton,
Let's score some goals, now baby,
You'll see the good times coming,
We'll be on a roll,
Cause we're the Wanderers!

Lasted exactly one game at the start of 2006/07.
Was his son that clown that kept singing 'The Villa's goin DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN' about 7 years ago?

The kids are going to think we win like that every week, aren’t they?! 😂

Great to be back at Molineux. Absolutely FREEZING, mind!

I’ve sat through more than enough ties like this in the past where we’ve struggled to break lower league opposition down, so I’m not going with the “Shrewsbury were bad” line (they were, but that’s not the point) - I have to give enormous credit to the players and Rob Edwards for showing the endeavour and appetite to get out there and break them down. How many times have we truly gone out and put these types of team to the sword? There wasn’t a huge amount of the boring, mundane passing back and forth between the defence which we’ve seen in the past - most of the players were always looking for a forward pass and trying to do something. Loads of running off the ball and in behind. It was good to see. Even Jackson had their left back on toast a few times in the first half and was unlucky not to have a couple of assists - for some reason he stopped in the second half.

Joao Gomes and Andre absolutely ran the show. Nice for JSL to get his goals and he took them well - be nice if he could do that in the PL.

I thought Wolfe worked hard but nothing much came off for him. Good to see the boundless energy of Rodrigo back & I was pleased both he & Tolu got on the scoresheet.

Hwang just can’t help himself can he?! Does something decent going forward but then just has this incredible knack of giving the ball away which leads to us conceding. I’ve no idea how he does it!

Anyway, here’s a pic of us after the final whistle while RE was doing his lap of honour. Nice little touch that my daughter wore the scarf bought for me by my dad for my first Wolves match some 35 (ish) years ago to her first game. Welcome to a lifetime of mediocrity, kids 😂 (although they’re already asking when they’re going back!)

I hate to pile on, but re: Jackson; what the fuck do scouts even look at?
I guess he fitted Vitor's profile of the sort of player he wanted. Was he on "the list"?

Either that or he was the only player that would come to us after the will-he, won't he with Semedo.

12 million Euros we paid for this guy. Which is 12 million more than he's worth. Was hoping a game against lesser opposition would give him a chance to show what he's all about. And I suppose he did. Time to cut him loose - he's just dead weight and somehow I don't even think he can be coached to anywhere near the level required. Just not a footballer I'm afraid.
