Wolves 3 - 3 Fulham (lost 5-3 on pens): The FA Cup 3rd round replay Verdict Thread.

It was just a reaction. He'd just played 120 minutes of a very exhausting game (chasing shadows in first half + end to end second +extra) in terrible conditions. He was probably knackered and not thinking clearly when the ball was blasted straight at him.

Nah a cowardly act and he should be shot for it

Well just got back in from the game (just kidding) and overall I enjoyed it.
First half we were abysmal and couldn't have complained if we were 3 down, worryingly Doherty was by far our best player and had a good game throughout, enter Dicko and Edwards and it looked like a completely different team, everyone upped their game.
Ikeme, pretty solid
Iorfa, I was a bit disapointed with him first half, nothing particularly wrong but seemed very short on confidence and self belief, think someone must have had a word at half time cos he was much more positive.
Stearman/Batth, both got caught out of position a couple of times but overall were sound.
Doherty, excellent performance I thought, possibly the best I've seen of him.
Macdonald, pretty good but I expect more from him, passing when under no pressure a bit wayward occasionally.
Price/Evans, either I'm unlucky or a Jonah as whenever I see these two, they are poor, Evans especially was a passenger. Price gives the ball away too cheaply for my liking but he did get about and got some good tackles in.
Henry, not terrible but not brilliant.
VLP, most seem to think he played well but personally think he was poor (apart from his goal). just ran up blind alleys and lost possesion and delayed crossing until closed down. His pace does scare defenders though, just wish he'd use it better.
McAlindon, oh dear, only seen him play a couple of times not impressed so far, last night he was awful (although don't think wide left suits him) was very lightweight, slow, and clumsy on the ball, started "hiding" imo. Had a good shot on goal and improved a bit but I think he needs to go out on extended loan, he may not make it at this level.
Dicko/Edwards, quite simply we seem shit without these two in the team, completely changed the game. Dicko did what he does and Edwards thinking, movement, runs, and workrate simply mean he has to play from a team point of view despite his lack of technical ability (not that its as bad as some would have you think), his second goal was class.
Clarke, no time to do much.

Awww, what happened to my title?

Ikeme doing his best to get no where near them.

And how far wide was Dohertys?

Also self protection in the wall....I'm sorry that's bollocks. Your natural reaction should be to head it.

The major crime from Evans was pissing about in midfield with a minute to go, gifting them the ball and a last chance to break on us. Dreadful stuff.

I agree this was the most annoying thing, plus he pulled out of a couple of tackles that were there for winning, and whilst I agree he's been a fabulous player for us this season and like everyone he's allowed an off day but the people suggesting its natural reaction to raise your hands I really don't agree, and I'm pretty sure that had that been Danny Batth or the Stears hands wouldn't have been raised they would have either headed it or just taken one for the team.
Also just seen the goals again on bbc and my initial reaction last night was there second goal was offside and now im convinced it was - so summing up in three words, we was robbed!

there was a player on the floor playing the fulham player on apparently

Their second goal is 100% onside, Stearman plays him on trying to block the Dembele shot. On Evans i still rate him highly and he's still not played many games, he will get better but he's got to be allowed to have the odd bad game. I would say putting his hand up like he did in the wall was a bit naive though, it was there to head and no matter what the conditions or the time he should have headed it. It was a mistake though and he probably will never do it again.

Ok I didn't see that so I will take your word for it - to be fair although I was gutted last night in hindsight its probably not a bad thing that we are playing Charlton a week on Saturday and not Sunderland!

Thanks for clearing that up, everything else I agree 100 % , I'm certainly not an Evans hater as I said before I thing he's been excellent this year and certainly has a big future ahead of him he just happened to be awful last night, but as you say he will learn from that and most likely never make the same mistake again, and better to learn in a cup match with little importance than in a game where it could cost three important league points.

Just watched the highlights again. As the Fulham player runs up to take the free kick Jack Price is stood to the side flicking snow at him with his boot. :icon_lol:

I wanted us to be playing a fourth round tie before the draw because I wanted Sako to not miss an extra league match, but as soon as we drew Sunderland I was rather less bothered. Let's make sure we demolish Blackpool and Charlton and then see if we can get something at Bolton to make a good or possibly great January.
