Jævla helvete. Fy fæn.
It is technically a handball, but it is very rare to see them given unless the hand is actually well away from the face. Especially frustrating as it was the last kick of extra time.
This is what annoys me most about last night; did Evans’s action disadvantage Fulham or benefit Wolves in any way? Surely the purpose of a free kick is to redress the balance. Sounds like more wind-up refereeing to me. Rules are made to be interpreted.
Read a comment on the Fulham site by Shaun Hutchinson, one of their CBs.
It came from the penalty spot after the striker’s initial free-kick had hit Lee Evans’ arm in the box, and Hutchinson had no sympathy for the Wolves midfielder.
He explained: “Whenever I’m in the wall the referee always says ‘don’t lift your arms because if you do then I’m going to give a penalty.’ That’s what they always say.
“Once he’s gone up and it’s hit his arm then he can’t really have any complaints – they’d been warned. I’ve not seen it again but the referee does say that before every free-kick."
Let's hope Evans has learned his lesson.
Even if that's true, it's still refereeing by numbers; decisions are supposed to be made after the event, not before.
Highlights from Fulham.
Agree with that, but I haven't seen it so I can't comment on the actual incident.
Doesn't look like I ever will either as there seems to be no video coverage at all.
It'll be on the BBC Cup Programme tonight Dino.
All the goals from last night it promised...
yep slowed it down watched it many times, his jumping action and slapping at the ball at the same time. looks a penalty all ends up for me.
does look like he could have headed it though, which is big billy bollocks from my settee i grant you, but i'm just saying.............
Yes, have to admit that even a reffing-by-numbers ref would be hard pushed not to give that one. Silly lad.
What's reffing by numbers? I haven't heard that before.
Applying the rules blindly with no thought as to why you're doing so. It's a variation on 'painting by numbers', where you make a picture by painting numbered sections in pre-designated colours.
and is as baffled as the rest of us.
