Wolves 2-3 Leeds: Verdict Thread

And how many times have we on here moaned like fuck about Bruno (and Nuno) trying to defend a lead. Last night Bruno wanted to keep attacking, and it nearly paid off. I don't think he even considered the defence having an absolute comedy 20 mins. If we'd have done what we normally do they wouldn't have even scored one. At 2-2 you would have thought they'd have gone for a point though with a 5-3-1...

I think if we'd have finished the game with 10 men, we could easily have scored several more goals and the conversation would have been about how good Trincao was. Up until the red, the way we were playing out from the back and through their press, without resorting to long balls was excellent.

When Raul got sent off I wasn't overly worried about us seeing the game out, Leeds has offered virtually nothing to suggest they'd be able to break us down until that point. We'd nearly got a point away at Man City when we were down to ten men for longer, so I had every confidence we'd see it out.

I can understand the frustration with Lage for not bringing on a striker sooner, but to be honest I don't think it really would have made much of a difference. I don't think Silva is capable of bringing down long balls and holding it up. I can only assume Lage was thinking that the players would continue to try and play out as they had been up until that point. Had they done that and not panicked, I think there could have been more goals for us, as Leeds were still all over the place defensively right until the end.

As it was our defence absolutely shit themselves and gifted Leeds three goals. I was really disappointed with Saiss last night, if he wasn't on the pitch we'd probably have won that quite comfortably. Think that might be the last time we see him for a while.

I'm not hopeful of us getting into Europe now, but if we can carry on playing like we did when we had 11 men, upgrade at CB and get a CF who can hold the ball up, I think the long term prospects actually quite quite bright, with the talent we've got in the squad.
Erm...

Of course there are other factors, but 100% it was started by that shockingly bad refereeing decision.
Or you could say it was started by us not being 3/4 up at half time when we should’ve been. Depends how far you want to take it back.

There is that, but we have literally never lost a game from 2-0 up since our return to the premier league. On the flip side Leeds haven't won from 2-0 down since their return..

If only Adama was still here...........................................................I mean what.

Saiss should have been subbed. He was swaying from side to side in front of the doctor directly before he lead him off the pitch to come back on again. Lage has to take some of the blame but his substitution for Neves was spot on. I, for one, muttered "oh dear" when Trincao came on. 100% different outcome if Raul had not been sent off.

A lot of these decisions because a lot easier to explain if you believe that there is an agenda to protect the bigger clubs.

I'm not saying there is, merely that if you believe that then these decisions make a lot more sense.

Just re watched a lot of the game. I’m never one to get on the referee’s back, but Christ that is one of the worst performances I’ve seen

1. Boly arguably could’ve been sent off. 2 bookable offences. Saved because the one is likely deemed to early (which I think is bollocks)

2. The lad that comes in for bamford, blatant elbow on Saiss, should be off

3. The Raul situ. More I see it, I actually don’t think it’s a foul either way. Don’t think the keepers at fault, nor Raul. It’s a collision. Nothing more, nothing less

4. Still think that was a naughty tackle by Moutinho suprised he didn’t get a card for that

5. Fairly sure Rodrigo commited more fouls than entire Leeds team combined

Bet there’s no punishment or repercussions for such an inept display, mind

There's also Raul's dive which looks bad on reflection as it led to the 2nd goal.

Have any of you thought about Wolves performance rather than blaming the referee? Last year Leeds United were a man down at Man City and 1-0 down. Leeds didn't cry, they won. Wolves were 2-0 UP and you lost. Your team failed you. Blaming the referee is blinkered thinking.
